are invited to submit for the Far Country exhibit, a na-tional juried competition, opening Aug. 29. The dead-line for submission is Aug. 2. Artists will be notified on Aug. 7. An artist reception is planned for 6 p.m. on the opening day, Aug. 29.
This is the seventh annu-al Far Country competition organized by TAGat120Art. The exhibit will run through Oct. 17.
The idea of Far Country is one of horizons, a sense of place, emotions, a literal landscape, a flash of light or stretch of a line where two entities meet. It may be a memory of a place or an idea based on home. It could represent the exotic, the mundane, the extraor-dinary, or it may simply be an unattainable dream.
Artwork will be accepted in two categories: 2D and photography, in the medi-ums of painting, drawing, mixed media and sculpture. Submit up to three pieces for jury selection that ad-dress the concept.
Cash prizes will be award-ed at the opening reception: First is $500, second is $250 and third prize is a gift card for Jerry’s Artarama.
The jurors are • Greg Davis, a renowned
photographer whose photo essays have been featured in National Geographic and
Gordon Logan an-nounced Tuesday the Sport Clips Haircuts board of di-rectors has elected Edward Logan to succeed him as the new CEO of Sport Clips Inc., the franchisor of the Sport Clips Haircuts chain.
“Edward has grown up in the business and played a key role in the company’s growth since he joined full-time in 2010, setting new standards for excellence as president and chief operat-ing officer,” the company’s founder said of his son. “It’s been rewarding working closely with him these past 10 years, and his leadership during the COVID-19 crisis has been exemplary.”
Gordan Logan said he looks forward to supporting his son in his new role as he continues to improve the company’s steady growth
and profitability. Edward Logan, a gradu-
ate of Southern Methodist University, served as a con-sultant with Deloitte Con-sulting in Dallas before join-ing Sport Clips. He oversaw the company-owned stores when he first joined Sport Clips, which he turned into top performers. He also pi-oneered company-wide in-novations used throughout the system today.
“I am humbled by the
opportunity to serve Sport Clips’ clients, stylists, fran-chisees and central support team. It’s something I’ve dreamed of and worked toward for many years,” Edward Logan said. “We will rise above the current challenges everyone is dealing with, and we will do so by continuing the val-ues-based legacy of Sport Clips that makes everyone within Sport Clips feel like family, that Gordon and Bet-tye created for us all.”
Gordon Logan and his wife Bettye founded Sport Clips in 1993 to provide a hair shop dedicated to boys and men, and established its headquarters in George-town. They began franchis-ing in 1995.
More than 1,600 Sport Clips stores are now open in the U.S. and Canada.

Recycled Sign SculptureScott Shubin has been
selected by the Arts and Culture Board to create the Recycled Street Sign Sculp-ture that will be located across the street from the Georgetown Public Library at the new Eighth Street parking lot.
His proposed sculpture will be 12 feet tall crafted from the decommissioned street signs that were re-placed by the new Down-town Historic District street signs. The completed sculpture will be installed in September.
The Dallas sculptor works with a variety of metals, found objects and stone to create beauty and unique forms. He received the Sculptor of the Year Award for Dallas/Fort Worth in 2015.
