The Bagdad Sultans have started out the season
4-0, again dominating their opponents by outscoring
them 240-38. Led by quarterback Israel Loveall and
running back Devin Nelson, the Sultans had over 25
receiving/rushing touchdowns so far. E.A Fonte,
Benjamin Loveall, and Michael Mendez are the three
horsemen combining for more than 400 yards receiving
and 12 touchdowns. On the offensive line, Jeremiah
Loveall leads the pack as a second year starter showing
first year starters Sr. Sam Collins and Fr. OB O’Brian
how to get it done.
Defensively, the Sultans fly around to the ball
leaving little room for the players to run, while getting
hit by at least 3 or more Sultans almost every play. While
the starters have been out there, only four touchdowns
have been allowed in the first four games. The defensive
line has been great lead by the beast second year starter
Christian Urquiza and a mix in D-Ends of Jaybles
Loveall, Michael Mendez, Travis Hotz, and Jorden
”Toad” O’Neill. The killer linebackers include All
American Dev, Caleb Love, Slim Shady, and King Conk,
while the second year starting cornerbacks E.A. Fonte
and Austin Alcorta sometimes shut down receivers.
Come support your Bagdad Sultans when they
play P.D.S.D this Friday before playing their biggest
game of the season against Pima at Gilbert Christian
High School. #FINISH!!

Lady Sultan Volleyball By Alexandra Provencio
For the Volleyball Season of 2015 the Sultans have had some exciting
things going on! This year our girls have a new Volleyball Coach, Shella
Brubaker (the new preschool teacher). Who is the assistant coach, you may
ask? The assistant volleyball coach is math teacher, Mr. Diehl. The
managers are Mackenzie Low and Erie Gallagher.
Sultan Spirit -By Richard Hernandez
The 2015 Fall Spiritline has reached a record breaking membership with a total of 16 cheerleaders on the 2015
Fall cheer squad, this is the biggest team in the past 4 years at Bagdad High School. The Cheerleaders as always
were at the Bagdad Sultans 1st Football game cheering the boys on. Senior Richard Hernandez says, “This is by far the most talented and dedicated
cheer team I have seen in the past four years here at Bagdad High School. We have had two freshman make varsity and about half of the team would come and meet me in the mirror room between school and practice to work on cheers and choreography,” and seems extremely enthused to be back on the cheer squad for his last year in high school.
By the discretion of the coaches, Natalia Jauregui was appointed the
position of head cheerleader while being only a junior!! Natalia says, “I am
so excited for this year!! We have a great group of girls… and Chayse.
They all have so much potential and personality that we will never have a
dull practice. Shoutouts to our coaches Sam-Hole and Mel-Hole thanks for
everything.”

Senior Countdown & Class News
Written By: Caleb Love
Seniors we only have 8 months and 8 days until Graduation! Our Senior Trip date is still to be determined!
We had an amazing week of competition among Jeremiah and Alexandra, Christian and Kayla, and Chayse and Marissa. Some awesome costumes were worn by the competitors. It came down to a close vote but Jeremiah and Kayla won the majority of our votes and are our 2016 Homecoming King and Queen.
Your 2016 senior class is selling Foam Fingers. The fingers are blue with white stencil paint and will be a key element for our stupendous student section during football season, play-offs and the state championship game. Our student fan base will also be essential for the 6th man activities during
basketball season as our Sultans basketball team makes their own run for a State Championship.
On Wednesday, September 9th, our ultimate Frisbee game on the field was rained out, so we moved it to the gym. After Round Robin play to determine placement in the tournament, the freshman lead by Owen Barton took on the
sophomores lead by Izzy Loveall to determine third and fourth place. The sophomores’ athleticism led them to victory. The juniors battled the seniors for first place. Strategy proved victorious as the seniors outscored the high powered juniors. It took a complete team effort, led by the ultimate fifth year senior Coach Mills to get the job done. The victorious senior team included
Austin Alcorta, Jeremiah Loveall, Armando Fonte, Caleb Love, Sam Collins, DJ Magic and Bryan Rivero.
On Thursday, September 10th your senior class was voted the best float followed by sophomores in second, juniors in third and lastly freshman. After
a tough competition and many games including the food relay and fish and whales, your Senior class won our 2016 Sultans Class Olympics.
