• British East India co. hurt by boycotts so theyre allowed to sell tea w/o tax– This hurt colonial tea merchants so they protest

violently• Boston Tea party= colonists dressed up as

indians dumped British tea off ships into Boston Harbor

III Fighting Erupts at Lexington and Concord

• New England minutemen stockpile firearms @ Concord to prepare for fight– Minutemen=civilian militia

• British gen. sends troops to seize weapons– Paul Revere “the British are coming”

• British & minutemen clash at Lexington on their way to Concord= British victory
