The Sticky Situation

The Sticky SituationBy: Samantha Noland

It was a day in Dequincy, Louisiana. The weather was hot, sunny, and humid.

My name is Lucy Goodman. I have brown hair and rosy red cheeks. My mom has brown hair , too! My rosy red cheeks are horrible!! I look like a clown compared to people in school. I would surely change those if I could.

My best friend ever is Tinti Lastimac. She has blonde hair and freckles.

We both love anything to do with detectives and detective cases. One day, we had the perfect opportunity

I was running to Croppers to get macaroni and cheese for dinner. Its my favorite and we always get it just for my birthday. My birthday is tomorrow and I am prepared for my special day.

I was exhausted when I got up there. I was so athletic and healthy that I didnt understand why I was so tired.

As I ran up, I saw police cars and Mr. Lastimacs car. He was a detective. I was so excited! I knew maybe I could help Mr. Lastimac solve whatever happened in Croppers. Tinti was probably there because she always looks for opportunities to help her dad with crime scenes.

Hey Tinti. What happened now? I asked.Someone stole forty packs of gum. Who would do that? My dad is working things out with Stank Louis, the owner, said Tinti.

Stank Louis worked for my dad. Dad makes popcorn and Stank happens to sell my dads.Okay sir. Did you see who stole the gum? Mr. Lastimac asked. No and we didnt have surveillance cameras up, Stank said.

I looked down and I heard a crunch, it was a receipt. It said that someone bought popcorn. This could be anyones receipt. However, the name Lindsey F. at 6:52 p.m on 10/2/10 appeared at the bottom. That was just today! I walked over to Tintis dad.

Mr. Louis, do you have an employee named Lindsey F.? I asked. As a matter of fact, I do. Shes a cashier and I think shes still here, Stank said.May I talk to her?Sure. Shes in the 6th check out line.

I walked over to her. Lindsey was filing her nails. I had to disturb this snobby looking woman.I was going to ask her questions that a real detective would.

Excuse me, are you Lindsey F.? Yes. Why would a girl your age need me? Lindsey asked in a princess fashion.I am Lucy Goodman and I have some questions to ask you.

Okay. Go ahead. This girl was being so snobby, I thought to myself. I wonder why. I should just ask her and get out of here.Okay. Were you here at 6:52 p.m today with someone who bought popcorn? I questioned her very carefully. Yeah. There were two women. One woman was like 29; blonde hair, blue eyes, and glasses. The other had purple eyes, short, black hair, and looked 31.Thank you. Thats all.

I was glad to leave. I needed to go to my house and look over these clues. Maybe Tinti wanted to come.

Tinti, want to come over? I have some clues, I told Tinti.

Yeah. Let me ask my dad! Tinti exclaimed

As Tinti went to ask, I saw Joe Brill. He was Amy Brills dad. He was talking to women that looked just like what Lindsey said about them in her aisle.

Hey Tinti. Come here, I screamed at the top of my lungs!I can come. What did you call me for? Tinti asked.Look!

I pointed over where I saw Joe Brill but no one was there. What am I looking at? Tinti askedThey were there. I saw Amys dad and two women that looked just like the cashier said they did. I said, almost crying.

I ran over and tripped on a pipe and Mr. Lastimac came over. Are you okay, Lucy? Mr. Lastimac asked.Yeah. I need a band-aid though. Must have been that penny I picked up, I said laughing.Tintis dad put a band-aid on. I said thanks and he went back to work.

We went to my house and my dad was at the popcorn factory. I saw Mary playing solitaire. She was really concentrating, so I wasnt going to bother her.

Tinti, lets go inside, I said.We went inside and looked over the clues. Then I told her about Joe Brill. He might be involved in the crime. Tinti SuggestedMaybe he was just there. Lindsey said nothing about a man, I said.

We were so confused. Tinti was biting her pen. We ended up going back to Croppers.

Girls. How are you? Joe Brill saidHe was getting interviewed by my BFFs dad.

Why are you here? Tinti askedI saw my daughter and my girlfriend stealing gum.

Amy stole gum, I askedNo. My older daughter, Candi. Her breath is as bad as an old gym sock. Everyone wants her to buy mint gum. Shes broke though, he said.

Girls. Let me do this case, Mr. Lastimac saidWe walked away. I knew it was Ce-Ce and Candi. I met them before. They both have bad breath. Luckily, I took a picture of them both chewing gum and gum hanging out of their purse.

Hey, girls. Do ya know where Joey is? Ce-Ce Magenta askedOver there. Well show you, Tinti said

I had no idea what she was doing. Ce-Ce and Candi were both wearing gloves. It was weird.Hey, Daddy, Candi said

Hey, Dad. These lovely people are the perpetrators. I have proof, Tinti said showing her dad the pictures of Candi and Ce-Ce picking up gum and chewing it.

How did you do it? Mr. Lastimac asked.Lucy did it all! With the help of my worthy helper, Tinti, I said.

Ce-Ce and Candi got arrested and had to return the gum. I was a detective for many other cases. Those are different stories.
