Welcome to the latest edition of the Southern Cemeterian, showcasing recent progress and activity in and around our eight locations. This has been a period of enhanced stakeholder engagement, in line with our commitment to understanding the diverse needs of the communities we serve. SMCT’s priority is to develop enduring relationships with client families, community groups, business partners, government and industry. As a client- centric organisation, we understand that, by strengthening relationships through open communication and consultation, we are able to provide the best possible service to all stakeholders. In recent months our focus has also been on master planning for the future development of Bunurong Memorial Park (BMP) and also Springvale Botanical Cemetery’s (SBC) Central Precinct. Both developments will enhance the customer experience and improve amenity for our communities, business partners and employees. SMCT’s visitor experience has already been enhanced by the recent reception, chapel and function room refurbishments at SBC and BMP and by the installation of the new children’s recreational playground, which has been carefully integrated adjacent to SBC’s A.J.A. Gardner Children’s lawn area. On a personal note, I was delighted to participate in the launch of the sixth annual Open House Melbourne, which was held within the Saint Mary of the Cross Mausoleum within Melbourne General Cemetery. It was an honour that MGC was chosen to launch this prestigious event and for our very own Café Vita et flores to provide the catering. Congratulations to all involved.
