Dear friends in the Lord,

For countless ages from the beginning of the world, men and women found

their existence to be merely a toilsome journey from birth to death. Gradually,

in many cultures and in fragmentary ways, the human family caught glimpses

of the God of creation and of the purpose of their lives. Then, in one startling

moment of human history, Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, revealed to his

disciples that the journey was charged with beauty and meaning, a pilgrimage

of sacrificial love to abundant life with his eternal Father.

We in the Roman Catholic Church consider that we have been uniquely blessed as

descend-ants of those first disciples—blessed with Sacred Scripture, the celebration

of the Sacraments, and a world-wide communion of more than a billion fellow

pilgrims led by the successors of the Apostles.

If you are not presently a member of the Catholic Church, we at Immaculate Heart

of Mary invite you to come and see how this ancient faith is lived in the lives of

contemporary Catholics.

Later this month, our parish will begin an Inquiry Class for adults who wish to

know more about the Catholic faith. The meetings are informal; your questions will

be our agenda. If you would like to join us, please contact Drew Denton in our Faith

Formation office at 404-636-1418 x223 or [email protected] for more infor-

mation.

If you are already an active member of another faith community, please know that

we respect and value that commitment; it is not our intention to proselytize. If,

however, you have no church family to call your own, we warmly invite you to

inquire with us. Be certain that a warm welcome awaits you.

Your brother in Christ’s word and work,

The Solemnity of the Assumption of

the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holyday of

obligation, is this Tuesday! See page 3

for Mass times.

Christ.

I have 6 years of youth ministry experience and 4 children of my own ranging in age from 15-21. I

am originally from Long Island, but moved to Atlanta for graduate school in 1987 and have been

meeting you in the coming weeks.

Our Life Teen band returns to the 5:00 Mass on Sunday, August 20. We are looking for teens to help with other
