    ILLUSTRATOR

    YANA SEDOVA is an internationally known artist and illus-

    trator who graduated from the Moscow Arts and Industry

    Academy. Her art and book illustrations have been exhib-

    ited widely to great acclaim, and The Snow Queenis her

    first full length book for international publication. Her

    favourite hobby is travelling, where she collects ideas and

    images for her whimsical fairy tale illustrations.

    AUTHOR

    HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN was born in Denmark in 1805

    and trained as an actor before starting to write. During his

    lifetime he achieved international success both as a play-

    wright and novelist but it is his fairy tales that have

    become loved by children and adults around the world;

    in particular The Little Match Girl, The Little Mermaid, The

    Ugly Ducklingand The Snow Queen. Andersen died in

    1875 but his achievements are celebrated in the award

    that bears his name, the Hans Christian Andersen Medal.
