Are you interested in a research opportunity? The five previous research fellows have all been awarded their MDs and published up to 20 publications (3-5 original papers). We are always interested in enthusiastic trainees at any level who would like to do research. Even if you would only wish to write a single paper or case series we can help. We have a wide choice of research areas. We now have Post CCT fellowships with the first Joint Royal College Physicians Training Board accredited fellow (JRCPTB) working within the small bowel service - come and chat to [email protected]

Dear GI Friends and Colleagues,

Thank you for your continued support of this meeting.

This is the 6th Sheffield GI Symposium (under the auspices of the BSG) - the programme as ever determined by delegates from last year’s meeting! There are national and international speakers providing evidence-based overviews of topics which are perhaps contentious. We hope that the talks are relevant and will influence your clinical practice. The programme provided will offer both lectures, case-based discussions, rapid clinical ‘hot topics’ and some really new endoscopy!

CPD accreditation is available (4 points)

Last year we had >220 delegates on the day and your feedback/evaluation forms suggested a >90% good to excellent rating. We really want to stress that this meeting is for everyone: trainees, consultants, associate specialists, nurses from endoscopy, clinics, or GI ward background, dietitians and, of course, junior doctors or medical students with an interest in gastroenterology or just an update. Anyone with an interest in Gastroenterology!

So please share this brochure out with anyone you think who maybe interested in your department. The meeting is entirely free. There are 250 places. We have to pay for the delegates upfront (approximately £100 per person) and for this reason I really want to make a plea that if you have registered and are not able to attend please let us know so we can let someone else use that place.

To register please email [email protected] with your name, position, hospital base, contact number and email address. Please also let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

The venue is easily accessible (just off the A57 on the outskirts of Sheffield city centre, thus avoiding traffic). This is very close to the Sheffield train station so jumping on a train from where you are brings you to within a five minute taxi drive or 15 minute walk to the venue. Parking is free of charge. All delegates will be provided with relevant papers and reviews which will hopefully augment talks (on the day).

We do hope you will attend. We would like this meeting to be a regular slot in your CPD calendar today and in the future. Thank you in anticipation.

Best wishes,

David S Sanders, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

DirectionsEvery year delegates find sat nav lets them down so below are some landmarks for you to use as a visual guide once you exit Park Square roundabout:

The Sheffield Victoria Railway used to terminate where the meeting is being held. Thus passengers disembarked and saw the Royal Victoria Hotel.

As a result the war memorial is situated here - if you have a moment please have a look.

Carry on up the driveway to the car park straight ahead.
