Vol. 1, No. 1 New Moon Seventh Month Ethanim

  • Yahweh spoke to Moses, Make two trumpets of silver; you are to makethem from a single hammered piece. And they shall be for assembling thecommunity and for directing the traveling of the camps. When they blowthem both, all the community must come to you to the entrance of the tentof meeting. But if they blow with one trumpet, then the leaders, the heads ofthe thousands of Israel must assemble themselves. When you blow analarm, then the camps that are located on the east side must begin to move. And when you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that arelocated on the south side must begin to move. An alarm must be soundedfor their journeys. But when you assemble the community, you must blow, but you must not sound an alarm. The sons of Aaron, the priests, must blowthe trumpets; and they will be to you for an eternal ordinance throughoutyour generations. If you go to war in your land against an adversary whoopposes you, then you must sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you willbe remembered before Yahweh your Elohim, and you will be saved fromyour enemies. Also in the time when you rejoice, such as on your appointedfestivals and at the beginnings of your months, you must blow with yourtrumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifces of your peaceofferings, so that they may be a memorial for you before your Elohim: I amYahweh your Elohim. - Numbers 10:1-10

The Silver Trumpet Soundsby Trent Wilde

As time has progressed in the advancement of present truth, theneed for a periodical such has this has become more and moreevident. It is the purpose of this paper to bind together and instruct allassociated with the present message and, ultimately, to aid the readersin settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually (1MR 249).To do this, we will be including articles on present truth topics, questions and answers, testimonies, and news items of various sorts.

The paper goes by the name The Silver Trumpet due to its purposebeing the same as that of the silver trumpets used by the priests ofancient Israel as described in Numbers 10:1-10. A quick reading ofthat passage will reveal that the making of the trumpets wascommanded by Yahweh and that it was Yahweh who stated theirpurpose and gave directions as to how they were to be used.

When the Shekinah was on the move, the tribes were to follow, and they were to be directed by the sounding of one of the silvertrumpets. Since this was stated by Yahweh to be an everlastingordinance (vs. 8), and since all the laws relating to the priesthood havetransferred to anti-type (Heb. 7:12), there must be a great signifcanceto the sounding of the silver trumpets for those of us in this anti-typicalperiod. Also, since the thing which a type points forward to isnaturally more important than the type itself, the anti-typical blowingof the silver trumpets must be supremely important for us today. Thisimportance is at least somewhat illustrated in the following statementgiven by Inspiration through Ellen White:

In all the journeyings of Israel, the ark of the covenant of theLord went before them, ... to search out a resting place for them.Numbers 10:33. Borne by the sons of Kohath, the sacred chestcontaining Gods holy law was to lead the van. Before it wentMoses and Aaron; and the priests, bearing silver trumpets, werestationed near. These priests received directions from Moses, whichthey communicated to the people by the trumpets. It was the dutyof the leaders of each company to give defnite directionsconcerning all the movements to be made, as indicated by thetrumpets. Whoever neglected to comply with the directions givenwas punished with death.

God is a God of order. Everything connected with heaven is in

  • 2 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1

perfect order; subjection and thorough discipline mark themovements of the angelic host. Success can only attend order andharmonious action. God requires order and system in His worknow no less than in the days of Israel. All who are working for Himare to labor intelligently, not in a careless, haphazard manner. Hewould have his work done with faith and exactness, that He mayplace the seal of His approval upon it.

God Himself directed the Israelites in all their travels. The placeof their encampment was indicated by the descent of the pillar ofcloud; and so long as they were to remain in camp, the cloud restedover the tabernacle. When they were to continue their journey itwas lifted high above the sacred tent. A solemn invocation markedboth the halt and the departure. It came to pass, when the ark setforward, that Moses said, Rise up, Lord, and let Thine enemies bescattered; and let them that hate Thee fee before Thee. And whenit rested, he said, Return, O Lord, unto the many thousands ofIsrael. Numbers 10:35, 36.1

How very seriously would every child of Israel had to have takenevery sound and blast from the silver trumpet. Oh, how much moreseriously ought we to take the blast of the silver trumpet nowresounding in our ears!

If there is any doubt that we are now in the same position as thechildren of Israel of old, let the reader carefully re-read the study TheReturn of the Shekinah by Doug Mitchell which clearly demonstrates thatthe Shekinah returned in the early days of the Advent movement afterHer dark age absence. Let it be further considered that the frst studygiven in the present message, as instructed by that same Shekinah, wason Psalm 68, which opens with this remarkable declaration:

Let Elohim arise, let his enemies be scattered; and let them whohate him fee from his Presence. - Psalm 68:1

As has been shown in our previous studies, this verse is a directallusion back to Numbers 10:35, though with specifc reference to thelatter day revival and reformation in the lands of the gentilespreparatory to returning to the land of our fathers.

The Shekinah is on the move and now it is time for the trumpet tobe blown. Therefore, it is imperative that every believer of presenttruth take heed to every trumpet blast with faithfulness and precision.1 Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 375-376

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 3

Our Heavenly Family is raising up a mighty army (Eze. 37:10; Joel2:1-11) and it is time for each to take his position and march.

As the trumpet is made of silver (a symbol of inspiration Ps. 12:6;68:13; Pr. 10:20), we should not only highly value it, but alsorecognize its authority as being of our Heavenly Family, for

The words of Yahweh are pure words. They are as silver purifedseven times. - Psalm 12:16

    Times of Blowing

As recorded in Numbers 10, the silver trumpets were to be blownnot only when the tribes were to get up and move, but also on joyousoccasions such as feast days and new moons, as well as other specialoccasions such as the dedication of Solomon's temple (2 Chron. 7:6)and the establishment of the second temple (Ezra 3:10). Today, in thedays of this anti-typical exodus from Egypt (worldliness) we ought toalso sound the anti-typical silver trumpet (proclaim the inspiredmessage) with a certain sound at all of the appointed times.

As the silver trumpets were blown at the times of sacrifce, weshould make it a point, at those same appointed hours, to proclaim theinspired message and let it dominate no less than did the blast of thetrumpet in ancient times. Common talk or exchange of personalopinions on so-called spiritual matters just won't do. We must learn tospeak only inspiration if we are to be without guile in our mouths(Rev. 14:5).

The fact that in their mouth was found no guile (Rev. 14:5),plainly goes to show that they are to proclaim nothing but puregospel truth, and makes their words as authoritative and asmandatory as the written words of the prophets and of theapostles.2

As candidates for the wave-sheaf (those who are to teach the144,000), it is incumbent upon all of us now to purpose it in our heartsto speak inspiration and only inspiration. In order to accomplish this,we must place ourselves as a sacrifce within the sound of the trumpetblast, for the trumpet was to be sounded not only at the time ofsacrifce, but over the sacrifces. 2 Mount Sion at the Eleventh Hour, Tract No. 8, p. 18

The Feast of Trumpets and New Moons

Since this frst issue of this paper is being released on the Feast ofTrumpets (really, the memorial of loud blasts), it is ftting to give abrief explanation of both this particular feast and new moons ingeneral. First to be noted is the fact that the memorial of loud blastsis to new moons what the Sabbath is to the days of the week - namely, that they are both the seventh. The following passage is thereforeespecially relevant to this day of trumpet blasts:

Shout for joy to Elohim, our source of strength! Shout out to theGoddess3 of Jacob! Lift up a song and play the tambourine, thepleasant sounding harp, and the ten-stringed instrument. Sound theram's horn on the day of the new moon, and on the day of the fullmoon when our festival begins. For observing the festival is arequirement for Israel; it is an ordinance given by the Goddess ofJacob. - Psalm 81:1-4

The passage proceeds to recount the history of the period in thewilderness, of which the Feast of Tabernacles is a commemoration. Itshould be remembered though that the Feast of Tabernacles was notonly commemorative but typical (PP 541.2) and that it, along withthe Feast of Trumpets, points forward to an experience which is thefulfllment of the types in the days of Israel's wilderness journeys asthey were led by the Shekinah. Today, we are not to fail whereancient Israel did; their failures should be our stepping stones tosuccess (1TG No. 7, p. 3). The fulfllment (and correcting) of thatperiod as well as the feasts which commemorated it is the series ofevents spoken of in Psalm 68.

As for new moons in general, we would like to cite readers to ourstudies Calendar in the Heavens and Calendar in the Heavens, Oct. 22, 1844,as well as provide you with the following additional quotations foryour consideration:

The moon is to establish time; governing the times; an everlastingsign. By her is determined feasts and appointed times. A light thatwanes as it completes its course. The month is according to hername. How wonderful is she in her changing, a beacon to the hostson high, shining in the vault of the heavens! - Sirach 43:6-8

3 For the translation Goddess here, see Divine Plurality, Vol. 1, Nos. 1-2.

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 5

Uriel showed me another law: regarding when the light is placedin the moon and from where it is placed from the sun... On the frstday it is called the new moon because on that day the light rises onit. - 1 Enoch 78:10, 12

Just as there is new light from the moon at the beginning of eachmonth, so there is fresh revelation from the Spirit at the same time.4By Her instruction, this revelation is proclaimed as represented by thesilver trumpets. By the grace of our Heavenly Family then, we hope tosee a new issue of this paper each new moon.

    Ontario Trip Reportby Teresa Wilde

I am excited to share with you news from our trip to Ontario insearch of a property from which to head the work of present truth. Butbefore I do, I want to ask each person reading this to also read VictorHouteff's report found in Vol. 1 Symbolic Code No. 10, To TheTwelve Tribes Which Are Scattered Abroad, and think about whathe is saying there. As important as his words were when he wrotethem, they are even more important at this time. We are much morenear the close of this earth's history than any of us might realize, butthe sad reality is that if we remain in a lukewarm condition and sitback to see what happens, we will effectually delay the work frombeing accomplished in this generation. It is our prayer that thesearticles, testimonies and reports will encourage and uplift each one ofyou and fll you with a zeal for the Gospel work. We can report thatthe land is good! We can take it! Do not delay in taking action as didthe Israelites when on the borders of the promised land and risk beingdenied the privilege of entering in.

    ------------------------------------------

On Monday, September 15, 2014 Trent and I started drivingfrom Abbotsford, BC on our way to Ontario. This time of year, theweather can be unpredictable in Canada, and in the mountains it can

be full-blown winter. The week prior to our exodus, it had snowed atleast eight inches in southern Alberta, the route we would be taking onour way to Ontario. The snow had cleared by the time we left though, and our heavenly Family has provided clear roads the entire way andcheery sunshine most of the days.

On Sabbath, September 20, 2014, we spent the day parked in alittle town called Vermillion Bay in the province of Ontario. We hadstopped in Kenora on Friday to look for a place to stay for theSabbath but to no avail. Everywhere we looked, signs were posted thatovernight parking was not allowed. We thought this strange, butstranger still was the odd sense of uneasiness we both had there. Wefelt pressed onward, even though we were both very tired. We droveand drove and each time we thought we might have found a place topull over and sleep, the Spirit told us to keep driving. We werebeginning to wonder what it was all about, but eventually, we foundthe spot. We were able to pull a good distance off from the highwayback in a fairly secluded woodsy area where we enjoyed a much-needed rest. It was the most perfect place to spend the Sabbath andwe praised our heavenly Family for guiding us there. It was anotherevidence of Their love for us.

We are now in the area which appears to be most strategic forcarrying forward the work. It will be good to be near enough toToronto, Ottawa, and Kingston for convenient evangelistic visits, yetfar enough into the country to be uncontaminated by city infuence. We know that this move is no less signifcant than the one ourDavidian pioneers made to establish Mt. Carmel center. We earnestlyplead for your prayers on our behalf in order that we may fnd theright property. We cannot afford to make mistakes and are seekingonly for the guidance of Heaven.

The timing seems right for this wilderness journey though. As weenter into the fall season, we look forward to the celebration of theFeast of Tabernacles and are reminded that this is the time that theIsraelites dwelled in temporary dwellings (or booths - sukkot). It is agood reminder to us that we are sojourners in this world, as wasAbraham, and that we should keep our eyes fxed upon the eternalkingdom, ready to leave all for our heavenly Family and be willing tomake any sacrifce, no matter how extreme, in order to obey Theirvoice. By doing this, it may be said to us as it was said to Abraham byYahweh, In blessing, I will bless thee, and in multiplying, I will

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 7

multiply thy seed [converts] as the stars of the heaven, and as the sandwhich is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of hisenemies; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessedbecause thou hast obeyed my voice ... And I will make thee a greatnation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shaltbe a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him thatcurses thee: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.Genesis 22:17-18; 12:2,3

Questions and AnswersWHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR THE RIGHTEOUS MAN TO

    FALL SEVEN TIMES?

Question No. 1:If it is true that being righteous means to no longer sin, what does

Proverbs 24:16 mean by saying, The righteous man falls seven times, but rises up again?Answer:

Of primary importance in this question is the issue of whether ornot the life of a righteous person is without sin. Second to this is theissue of the meaning of the particular text in question. To fnd thetruth to both issues, we must examine the texts which most specifcallyaddress each question. This principle is important to remember andabide by, for it will save the student from being swayed by sidearguments against the plainest truths of Scripture. To state theprinciple more clearly, we offer this saying when considering anymatter, look for the answer where an answer is intentionally given. Inother words, look to the places which speak specifcally to the issue athand.

To address the frst issue, we will quote just one passage whichdeals specifcally with this question:

Whoever commits sin also breaks the law, for sin is breaking thelaw. And you know that he [Jesus] was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. Everyone who abides with him does notsin; everyone who sins has neither seen him nor known him. Little

  • 8 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1

children, let no one deceive you: The one who does righteousness isrighteous, just as he [Jesus] is righteous. The one who commits sinis of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from thebeginning. For this purpose the Son of God was revealed: todestroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God does notcommit sin, for his seed remains in him, and he cannot sin, becausehe is born of God. By this the children of God and the children ofthe devil are manifest: Everyone who does not righteousness - theone who does not love his brother - is not of God. - 1 John 3:4-10

This passage, along with others such as Romans 6 and John 8:33-37, should leave no question in the mind of the one who believes inthe inspiration of the writers of scripture that the lives of the righteousare as free from sin, once justifed (made righteous), as that of the Sonof God himself. On this issue, we also cite the reader to our study TheLost Gospel of Christ.

At this point, no interpretation of any passage (including Proverbs24:16) should sway the believer away from the gospel of righteousness, for he knows it is true. The reader does fnd himself in somewhat of aconundrum, however, when he knows the truth of the gospel, but atthe same time believes in the inspiration of the writers of Proverbs.Could it be that this text contradicts the gospel? one might ask.Well, if it did come by inspiration, it certainly could not, and if it doescontradict, then it just as certainly did not come by inspiration. Theonly way to fnd the answer is to examine the context of the passage inquestion under the infuence of the Spirit of Truth.

Do not lie in wait like the wicked against the place where therighteous live; do not assault his home. For though a righteous manmay fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will bebrought down by calamity. Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and when he stumbles do not let your heart rejoice, lest Yahwehsee it and be displeased and turn his wrath away from him. Do notfret because of evil people or be envious of wicked people, for theevil person has no future, and the lamp of the wicked will beextinguished. Fear Yahweh, my child, as well as the king, and donot associate with rebels, for suddenly their calamity will overtakethem, and who knows the ruinous judgment the two of them canbring. - Proverbs 24:15-22

When reading the passage in context, it becomes apparent that the

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 9

falling in question is not falling into sin, but rather falling bycalamity. The same sentiment contained here is conveyed in thefollowing passages:

The righteous man may have many troubles, but Yahwehdelivers him from them all. - Psalm 34:19

We are experiencing trouble on every side, but are not crushed;we are perplexed, but not driven to despair; we are persecuted, butnot abandoned; we are knocked down, but not destroyed, alwaysbearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the lifeof Jesus may also be made manifest in our body. - 2 Corinthians4:8-9

Besides this, there are also passages which do speak of falling inthe sense of falling into sin, but these passages only serve to confrmfor us that the righteous do not fall into sin. For example:

For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet falls at just one point isguilty of breaking all of it. - James 2:10

Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to presentyou faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, -Jude 24

Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to confrm yourcalling and election. For if you do these things, you will never fall. -2 Peter 1:10

We sincerely ask that anyone who at this point still fnds himselfresistant to the idea of a sin-free life for the righteous to honestly andthroughly examine himself and ask the Spirit to show him why suchresistance remains in his heart. While a sinless life is impossible in ourown strength, all things are possible through Christ (Phil. 4:13).

    IS SANCTIFICATION PROGRESSIVE?

Question No. 2:Ellen White tells us that sanctifcation is the work of a lifetime

(COL 65.2). Does not this imply that we can't become sinless in amoment, but rather that we gradually overcome our sinful tendencies

  • 10 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1

and perhaps eventually become without spot of sin?Answer:

To answer the question directly No, the statement thatsanctifcation is the work of a lifetime does not at all imply thatbecoming free from sin is a gradual process. In truth, the scripturesdeclare the opposite. We are assured in the scriptures that a sinnerdoes no righteousness and a righteous person does no wickedness. Toput it another way: If anyone does any sin, he is a sinner free fromrighteousness; on the other hand, if a person does any righteousness,he is righteous free from sin. Consider the following texts:

For when you were the servants of sin, you were free fromrighteousness. - Romans 6:20

For all who rely on doing works of law are under a curse becauseit is written, 'Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey allthings that are written in the book of the law.' - Galatians 3:20

Whoever keeps the whole law but falls in one point, he is guilty ofbreaking all of it. - James 2:10

For he that is dead is free from sin. - Romans 6:7

Being then made free from sin, you became the servants ofrighteousness. - Romans 6:18

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God,you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. -Romans 6:22

Jesus answered them saying, Truly, Truly, I tell you, Whoevercommits sin is the servant of sin. If the Son therefore will make youfree, you will be free indeed. - John 8:34, 36

From all these scriptures (and more) it is seen that there is truly nofellowship between righteousness and unrighteousness, nor betweenlight and darkness (2 Cor. 6:14). There is no concord with Christ andBelial (2 Cor. 6:15); you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cupof demons too (1 Cor. 10:21); you cannot serve two masters (Matt.6:24); if you are not for Christ you are against him; if you gather notwith him you scatter abroad (Matt. 12:30).

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 11

There is no such thing as being 20% righteous and 80% wickedand then, a year later, being 30% righteous and 70% wicked. So longas a person has one sin, they are guilty of all and the law condemnsthem to the same fate as all other sinners (Rom. 6:23).

Don't you know that if you offer yourselves to someone asobedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey whether youare slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leadsto righteousness? - Romans 6:16

If one is to be righteous, then, he must be made truly and fullyrighteous (see 1 John 3:4-10). And since there cannot be a time whenthat person is gradually becoming more righteous and less sinful, theymust be made totally free from sin in an instant. In effort to take painsto make this point as plain as possible, we offer the followingillustration:

Let us say we have a man who is supposedly becoming righteousover a period of 100 days. At the beginning of the period he is 100%sinful and 0% righteous, the next day 99% sinful and 1% righteous, and so on with 1% progression per day. On the 51st day when he issupposedly 51% righteous, is he actually righteous at that point?According to the scriptures No! for he still has sin, and is thus freefrom righteousness (Rom. 6:20). How about when he reaches 75%righteous, is he then righteous? No! He is not obeying all thingswritten in the law and is therefore under the curse (Gal. 3:10). Howabout when he is 99% righteous and only 1% sinful, surely at thatpoint he can be considered righteous (some might reason), but no, forhe is still transgressing in one point and is therefore guilty of all (James2:10).

Are we not then left with the inescapable conclusion that if one isto be justifed, made righteous (Rom. 5:16-19), he must be madecompletely righteous free from sin and that, in an instant? In truth, there is no other way. We are to be a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17), witha clean heart created in us (Ps. 51:10); breathed into existence by theSpirit Herself (Eze. 37:10).

The questioner may now wonder if all this does not imply thatsanctifcation is not progressive or is not the work of a lifetime. Doesit truly imply this? Answer No, not in the least. To the contrary, thetruth of justifcation, as explained above, is the only thing which allows

  • 12 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1

for sanctifcation to include true and genuine progression. As we haveseen, the progression in the typical view of sanctifcation is really noprogression at all; it is only an illusion of progression. In order forsanctifcation to include true progression in righteousness, it must beactually in righteousness from the start.

The light on this subject only brightens when considering that thelife of the righteous is actually the life of Christ (Gal. 2:20; Rom. 5-6).Jesus was totally righteous and thus without sin (Heb. 4:15; 1 John 3:5)and yet he was sanctifed (John 10:35; 17:19). This is only todemonstrate that sanctifcation itself does not necessitate a process ofgoing from sinful to righteous, for Christ never underwent such aprocess. So what does it mean to be sanctifed?

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit thekingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicinghomosexuals, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. Some of youonce lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctifed, youwere justifed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spiritof our God. - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Here, being washed (from sin Ps. 51:2; Rev. 1:5), sanctifed(made holy Ex. 29:37), and justifed (made righteous Rom. 5:16-19) are all paralleled one with another. This passage clearlydistinguishes between those who are washed/sanctifed/justifed fromthose who take part in sin,5 making it altogether clear that thesanctifed one does not sin. Therefore, sanctifcation is, through andthrough, sinlessness.

There is another aspect of sanctifcation which must be consideredin order to gain a fuller understanding of the subject:

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly; mayyour spirit and soul and body be preserved wholly blameless unto thecoming of our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Thessalonians 5:23

From this we learn that sanctifcation carries with it the idea ofbeing preserved from falling into sin. We are kept from falling by

5 Please also read Ephesians 4:17-24 and 5:25-27 to see that to be sanctifed is to be free from sin.

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 13

being led by the Spirit into all truth (Rom. 8:1, 4, 5, 14; Gal. 5:18;John 14:18; 16:13; Wis. 8:17-18). As the truth is progressive, so also isour walk in obedience to it.

The path of the just is as a shining light, that shines more andmore unto the perfect day. - Proverbs 4:18

Here is Bible sanctifcation. It is not merely a show or outsidework. It is sanctifcation received through the channel of truth. It istruth received in the heart, and practically carried out in the life.Jesus, considered as a man, was perfect, yet He grew in grace. Luke2:52: And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favorwith God and man. Even the most perfect Christian may increasecontinually in the knowledge and love of God.6

The germination of the seed represents the beginning of spirituallife, and the development of the plant is a beautiful fgure ofChristian growth. As in nature, so in grace; there can be no lifewithout growth. The plant must either grow or die. As its growth issilent and imperceptible, but continuous, so is the development ofthe Christian life. At every stage of development our life may beperfect; yet if God's purpose for us is fulflled, there will becontinual advancement. Sanctifcation is the work of a lifetime. Asour opportunities multiply, our experience will enlarge, and ourknowledge increase. We shall become strong to bear responsibility, and our maturity will be in proportion to our privileges.7

The preceding paragraphs demonstrate that Christ's ownsanctifcation included a progression of growth. To have his life, then,- to be sanctifed - is to be continually growing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man just as he did, and to do it allwithout sin, just as he did. A yet fuller view can be obtained byconsidering a few other statements from Ellen White on the topic ofeducation. Please notice the similarity between her language usedwhile discussing this, to the language she employs concerningsanctifcation.

Our ideas of education take too narrow and too low a range. There is need of a broader scope, a higher aim. True education

    6 Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 1, p. 3397 Christ's Object Lessons, p. 65

  • 14 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1

means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It meansmore than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do withthe whole being,8 and with the whole period of existence possible toman.9 It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers.10 It prepares the student for the joy ofservice in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in theworld to come.11

In order to understand what is comprehended in the work ofeducation, we need to consider both the nature of man and thepurpose of God in creating him. We need to consider also thechange in mans condition through the coming in of a knowledge ofevil, and Gods plan for still fulflling His glorious purpose in theeducation of the human race.

When Adam came from the Creators hand, he bore, in hisphysical, mental, and spiritual nature, a likeness to his Maker.God created man in His own image (Genesis 1:27), and it wasHis purpose that the longer man lived the more fully he shouldreveal this imagethe more fully refect the glory of the Creator. All his faculties were capable of development; their capacity andvigor were continually to increase. Vast was the scope offered fortheir exercise, glorious the feld opened to their research. Themysteries of the visible universethe wondrous works of Himwhich is perfect in knowledge (Job 37:16)invited mans study.Face-to-face, heart-to-heart communion with his Maker was hishigh privilege. Had he remained loyal to God, all this would havebeen his forever. Throughout eternal ages he would have continuedto gain new treasures of knowledge, to discover fresh springs ofhappiness, and to obtain clearer and yet clearer conceptions of thewisdom, the power, and the love of God. More and more fullywould he have fulflled the object of his creation, more and more

8 There are many places where Ellen White states this same thing concerning sanctifcation. One example is Acts of the Apostles, p. 52.

9 Ellen White also conveys this idea of an everlasting sanctifcation in Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 1, p. 35 were she says, I replied that I longed for the coming of Jesus. Then sin would have have an end, and we would enjoy sanctifcation forever, with no devil to tempt and lead us astray. The point here being, that if we will be enjoying sanctifcation forever after the second coming without sin, why would sanctifcation before his coming necessitate the existence of sin in the life?

10 A similar statement was made by Ellen White concerning sanctifcation in Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 433.

fully have refected the Creators glory.12

It is our hope and prayer that all readers will now understand thatsanctifcation is indeed the work of a lifetime, but that it is the work ofan everlasting lifetime lasting forever, that it is ever progressing in allgood things, imaging our Creators13 more and more fully without end.We are also equally burdened that our readers will understand that asanctifed life is truly holy and without sin, and that it is that life, andthat life alone which can truly progress as Christ Himself progressed, and indeed as the whole Heavenly Family progresses.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.- Matt. 5:48

Following are a few excerpts of testimony from a couple whorecently came in contact with the message through videos on The SevenAngels' Messages youtube channel:

I can't get enough of your videos. I believe they are delivering thetruth, and Lord knows I need to be set free by it! Can you help me?Can I help you? I have started introducing my church to thesetopics, and it is going over very well actually!!! How could it not!? Oursouls are so hungry to know Her and the rest of the truth about theKingdom.

    REJOICING IN THE GOSPEL

Dear Fellow Branches,I just want to tell how this present message has affected me. Where

do I begin? Well, frst of all, I would have to say that the most

important thing is that, for the frst time in my life, I understand theGospel, and it makes perfect sense. And the truth of it actuallydeserves the descriptor good news. Its the law being restored inreality in us!

Now that I understand the Gospel as the power of our HeavenlyFamily to make us righteous (sinless), it makes sense that the wavesheaf, the 144,000, and the 200,000,000 will be able to do the workthey are called to do. The power of the Revelation 18:1 Angelbecomes clear and imminent. What is happening right now is thereality of what all the messages Ive been studying have pointed to;Christ in us, the hope of glory!

Ive come to see that the Godhead consists of real people who havereal physical bodies, and they desperately want me to join their familyand live with them in a real physical universe for eternity, so that wecan share love. Could it really be true? It still seems hard to believe, after my previous religious training. Its so astoundingly wonderfulthat I want to shout it from the rooftops!

There are so many things Ive been learning in the last little while, that it makes my head spin! And I know that the feast will continue, solong as we heed these things and allow them to change us. I say, bringit on, Sister Wisdom!

    Health Principlesby Trent Wilde

As all believers in present truth already know and believe, we arenow in the restoration of all things. Not least of these restorations isthe restoration of health and wellness. Many principles as well asspecifc instructions have been given and repeated by messengers ofpast days. Despite all this, there still remains in the minds of many, alack of well principled understanding and practice. Many are in thehabit of following only the letter of the law in regard to health.

Some, upon learning the scriptural commands regarding clean andunclean meats, abstain from things like pork and shrimp with much

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1 17

pride, but see no issue in eating marshmallows or taking supplementswith gelatin capsules, and even joke and make light of eating such so-called foods regardless of the fact they contain some of the veryingredients condemned in scripture.

Others, thinking themselves to take more seriously the instructionsgiven by Inspiration through Ellen White regarding the fesh foodquestion, abstain not only from pork and shrimp, but also from eatingthe fesh of any animal. For many though, the reason for abstinence issolely, Ellen White said so. And since she did not say to abstainfrom some other thing, even though it be equally unhealthful, they willindulge in the food simply because it is allowed, or so they think. One of most prevalent occurrences of this unprincipled approach tohealth is the eating of processed vegetarian meat substitutes socommonly sold at Adventist stores and consumed at pot lucks.

Still others will avoid these foods but compromise their health inother ways such as eating imbalanced proportions of grains andvegetables, or eating bread with unhealthful ingredients such as mono-and-diglycerides, high-fructose corn syrup, refned sugars and fours,or simply just eating too much, or at the wrong times.

The real solution to this plague of unprincipled approaches andpractices is to abandon your weak human attempts to follow the letterof the law, for it is only death. The spirit of the law is vast and allencompassing, touching on all aspects of life. It is only by following theSpirit that we can live a truly healthful life. The change of thinkingnecessary in this matter is no different than the change of thinkingfrom our ways to our Heavenly Family's ways (Isa. 55:6-7).

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? And yourlabour for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently unto me,and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself infatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soulshall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, eventhe sure mercies of David. - Isa. 55:2-3

Let us get into the habit of asking our Heavenly Family about allmatters of health, and indeed all maters. If we abide by this principlewe will be sure to experience the greatest health possible in this life. Agood friend put it another way:

If you can't give an honest thanks for that which you are about

3With each issue of The Silver Trumpet we hope to include

contributions from those investigating and examining present truth. These contributions may be testimonies of how the message hasimpacted you, reports of how the work is going in your area, or storiesof trials you have undergone on account of the message. It could behealth tips, recipes, poems, articles, etc. Whatever it may be, pleasesend it in that it may be published and thus become anencouragement to others.

4In the past phases of the judgment message, extending from 1844

up till the present, messengers have had to call upon the people to befaithful in paying tithes and offerings to support the work.Unfortunately, today it is no different. The situation as it stands today

  • 20 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 1

is not so different than what it was in the early 1930's when Houteffwas trying to establish Mt. Carmel center. It does differ in somerespects however. These include the fact that today we have fewerestablished believers, fewer tithe payers, fewer able bodied men andwomen actively engaged in carrying forward the work, the devil ismore subtle and cunning in his attacks against this phase of themessage than any former message, and not least is the fact that thistime is more crucial than any other time in the past history of theAdvent movement. Let each believer then be faithful in the littlethings if he expects to gain the strength to move on to the greaterthings. We urge you all to send all your tithes to the storehouse (Mal.3:10). When at all possible, lay aside every penny to be sent in tosupport the work.

Establishing a center to carry forward the work is no small task. Itrequires, time, means, energy, and as many spirit-led hands as can behad. In addition to requesting all to be faithful in paying tithes andofferings and setting aside additional offerings for the cause of presenttruth, we urge it upon you all to pray about whether you should at anytime come up to help establish this center in person. We will need toerect buildings, establish agriculture, upkeep the property, and run allthe institutions which our Heavenly Family has prescribed for theclosing work for the church. Seek frst the kingdom and you will be inwant of nothing is the promise from the Lord himself.

5We are now only ten days from Atonement. It is urged upon all to

take seriously this solemn time. The trumpet is now being blown.Affict your souls; see where you stand. Now is the time of salvation.
