Christ Redeemer, Brazil Christ the Redeemer (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor), is a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From 1931 until 2010 it was the largest Art Deco statue in the world. It is 30 metres (98 ft) tall. It sits on a 8 metres (26 ft) pedestal on the peak of the 700-metre (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain. The statue overlooks the city. It was finished in 1931 after 9 years of work Great Wall of China The Great Wall of China is an ancient wall composed mainly of pounded dirt and stone which is located in China and was built to protect the north of the empire of China from enemy attacks. It is the longest structure humans have ever built: stretching 21,196 kilometres long, 30ft wide and 50ft high. Taj Mahal, India The Taj Mahal is a tomb built in the 17th century by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. She is the 3rd wife of Shah Jahan. Colosseum, Italy The Colosseum was first called the Flavian Amphitheatr. It was used for gladiatorial contests, and other shows like animal hunts , in which animals would hunt and eat prisoners; or in which gladiators would fight against animals. There were also executions of prisoners, plays, and battle scenes; sometimes it was filled with water to fight sea battles. The people of Rome could go into the Colosseum without any costs; it was free. Petra, Jordan Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. Chichen Itza, Mexico Chichén Itzá is a large Mayan city famous for a large, pyramid temple built by the Maya civilization
