    Inside this issue:

Almost a month has passed since Faith celebrate God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday (GWOH) with

the whole of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on September 13. What a great day!

Nearly 70 people volunteered their time. The services offered made a big difference to Lutheran

World Relief, Marion Cares, Meals on Wheels, and Feed Iowa First. But the most important

difference was in us: Faith Lutheran.

Even on that day people asked me, “Pastor, how can we do more?” And, “Pastor, can we grow

some food for Feed Iowa First?” And, “Pastor, these are our neighbors – I want to keep serving!”

Your hearts are primed for loving your neighbors and they’re blessed by it, but so am I as one of

    your Pastors.

There are some new relationships growing out of our time of service through GWOH. First, we

will do it again next year! Do you have service ideas for our neighborhood next year that you’d be

willing to put together and lead? If so, talk with Pastor Amy.

Second, our relationship with Marion Cares is shining bright! We’ve been long standing support-ers of this ministry down the road from us at Azure apartments, and now we’ve seen where the

ministry happens and been with some of the people who go there. Our commitment is renewed!

Third, many happy hands made blankets and discovered the beauty of the fellowship that comes

with it. Several people have talked with me about creating a quilting group – you don’t even have

to know how to sew in order to help. Are you interested?

Finally, the council has approved a garden plot for Feed Iowa First to grow on! Next spring with be our first planting (it sounds like we’ll plant onions). We plan to have a planting and harvest workday/festival surrounding the garden. We’re digging in to God’s green Earth to love our neighbors and strengthen our own fellowship.

What glorious blessings God’s Work, Our Hands has brought us!

God bless your hearts, hands, and voices.

    In thanksgiving for your service,

    Pastor Amy

We are a community of Faith,

growing in Christ, sharing God’s love.

Faith has been serving the Marion-Cedar Rapids area for more than thirty

years; supporting local ministries such as the Marion Food Bank, Habitat for

Humanity, and Senior Assistance Programs. We are in partnership with the

global missionaries and one of the largest non-profit social service networks

in the United States; as well as Lutheran World Relief worldwide. All are minis-
