The Magicard Rio Pro Xtended personalises extra-long plastic cards for ticketing, accreditation and product labelling. Cards up to 110 mm long can be printed entirely in full colour using the double printing mode. Over-the-EdgeOver-the-edge printing produces the highest quality image which prints over the edge of the card, this avoids print imperfections.

RewritableRewritable cards have one glossy side in PVC for colour or monochrome dye sublimation printing and a matte finish side with a blue or black thermochromic sensitive material that can be reprinted up to 500 cycles.

Encoding Options

Card encoding enables electronic data to be written to the card as it is being printed. Magicard ID card printers support a wide range of in-printer card encoding:

Contact Chip EncodingIn Magicard’s professional series, an optional ISO7816 internal smart card chip encoding contact station can be specified autonomously or in combination with a Magnetic stripe encoder option.

Contactless EncodingVarious contactless smart card encoding options such as MIFARE, DESFire, iClass and Legic are also available in professional series printers.

Combi EncodingCombi encoding, contact and contactless combined, are supported by all printers.

Magnetic StripeAll printers can be specified with ISO standard 7811 compatible HiCo encoding of magnetic stripe cards. Magicard’s dual coercivity HiCo/LoCo Magnetic stripe encoder option offers encoding of all 3 tracks with total user format flexibility.

Why you should always use genuine ribbons –

• The best colour quality and consistency for your printing The manufacturers design the ribbons specifically for use with their printers so that you receive the highest quality

• You won’t risk breaching the terms of your printer warranty If something goes wrong with your printer and you haven’t been using genuine ribbons, the manufacturer’s warranty may no longer be valid

ICON COLOUR EXPLANATION

Yellow, magenta, cyan, black and overlay

Standard colour ribbon including an overlay

Half yellow, magenta and cyan, full black and overlay

Half panel ribbons are for printing colour on half of a card, for example if you are only printing a photograph in colour

Yellow, magenta, cyan, black, overlay, black

For double sided printing, including an overlay which will give you colour on the front and black on the back of a card

Black ribbon with a clear overlay For printing in black with a protective overlay

Retransfer ribbon, for use with retransfer printers

A retransfer ribbon will come as two separate ribbons in order to complete the printing process. The colour ribbon will print onto the clear film and this then transfers onto the card for extra security

Scratch off ribbon Prints a scratch off silver foil onto cards

Yellow, magenta, cyan, black and inhibit

The inhibit allows you to not print on certain areas of the card

Generic hologram

This ribbon will print a film layer with a hologram on top of your card design

Top coat The same as an overlay. It will give a protective layer on top of your card

or Florescent UV panelThis UV panel will be part of a colour ribbon for printing a covert design which only appears when a UV light is shined on the card

Secure Holokote

This is a panel in a Magicard ribbon which will allow for a generic or custom Holokote to be printed on top of the card (see page 18 for more information on Holokotes)

Our most cost effective range of plain non-printed lanyards have a breakaway attachment as standard for complete safety. If caught they will immediately come apart and can then be re-fastened.
