JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH 2016 3
Brethren,
I sincerely hope you all had wonderful and happy holidays, now it’s time we get back to work. For those of you who haven’t met them yet, I’d like to introduce our office staff. Frances Simpson is our membership and parking manager and she has done a phenomenal job working with the Supreme database called Sentinel: having uncovered things such as, payments for per capita on deceased members and those suspended for non-payment of dues. She is very meticulous and we are fortunate to have her on board. Our Marketing/Event Center manager is Elizabeth Dunn and she also has done a great job taking over for Carmen running our event center. Lastly, we are very lucky to have Trudy Bruning our accountant, who has been extremely beneficial over the years she has been with us. Next time you are in the office, say hello to these ladies, as without them we would be in a world of hurt. Our installation of officers is scheduled for January 9th including dinner for all at just $5.00 per person. Our installing Officer will be none other than Ill. Frank Louie, the Sovereign Grand Inspector General for the Orient of California. Please make plans to come down and support your new incoming officers. Honorable Jonathan Dilley, KCCH, is our new clinic president and has appointed an excellent staff to assist him in his duties. 2016 should be an exciting year, as we plan a long class and Masonic Education classes, which are very informative and interesting for those of you with a thirst for knowledge of our ancient craft. In February, we will have our annual Cap and Ring Ceremony with a dinner preceding for just $5.00. You may also want to come down and see the fantastic musicals next year in our theatre. Plans are in the works for plays like Chicago and The Producers. Excellent entertainment for you and your entire family plus it is cheap. In closing, brethren, might I remind you that this is YOUR Rite. You all own a piece of the historical building and any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. I assure you they will not fall on deaf ears. Be safe and God Bless. Fraternally,
HAVE YOU FOUND YOUR NITCH?
NOTES FROM THE SECRETARY
Have you found your place to work in the Long Beach Scottish Rite? Every committee needs new volunteers to work: service coffee and meals; visit the sick and shut ins; present ROTC and JROTC Awards; set the floor or stage for degrees; deliver ritual parts; maintain our building or make improvements; sort books for the library; stuff dues notices; play the organ; adjust lighting and sound levels; tile the doors and welcome committees for visitors and events; dress the casts; encourage the casts by attending.
There is a place for everyone to contribute to the work of the Long Beach Scottish Rite. Some jobs require being at most events, some only at reunion classes, and some can be done without attending any meetings. Every member must do their part to complete the task of presenting a positive image to the candidates and public. Are you looking for your personal Nitch in the Long Beach Scottish Rite? Speak up and let your requests be known. You will enjoy your membership more with the knowledge that you are involved.
Fraternally,
Charles H. Bruggeman General Secretary

10 THE SCOTTISH RITE REPORTER
Brethren, As the incoming Chieftain Commander I first and foremost, hope this letter finds you and your loved ones in good health and high spirits. As 2015 rapidly come to a close I want to take this opportunity to reach out to you and let you know that we are here for you and your family in any capacity desired. If you need a ride to and from any event or assistance in any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or my staff immediately, to ensure appropriate arrangements are established for you. It is important each of us to do our part in making this great brotherhood what is, what it has been in the past, and continues to be in the foreseeable future. So, with that in mind, I want to give you the opportunity to rededicate your time and skills not only to the KSA but especially the Scottish Rite and all of Masonry. As you know, the KSA is the initial face of our wonderful organization. This year we challenge every KSA member to “up their game”. To do so, we must to do a better job of representing our organization and the supporting bodies in every event Masonic or otherwise. We want every member to give their input in the r evitalization of the Long Beach Valley Scottish Rite, KSA, and concurrent bodies. James 2:14 “faith without works are dead”. We must be in the forefront and leading the efforts of this organization by our actions while our current membership is attempting to mentor and guide us to success. Thus, being confident in our abilities and assured that we will carry on the practices and ideals of this wonderful ancient fraternity. However, we must first ensure that our own house is clean, organized, and in optimal working order. We must make a concerted effort to not only maintain our current membership while knowing it is imperative that we “grow” our membership with new members. An excellent example of this is in San Diego Valley Scottish Rite KSA, they have no less than 30 active KSA members at any given event, Masonic or otherwise. Over the course of this past year others members and myself have been discussing and developing ideas on how to make these positive changes occur. However, your active participation is absolutely necessary and required to make this come to fruition this coming year and for many more years to come. Ideally, we must start walking the walk that everyone talks, i.e. lead by example not by our words. James 2:16 “faith without works are dead”. We must be unified and united at all times and in everything we do. From the suits that we wear to our KSA uniforms. Moreover, we must be consistent in what we say and how to the people who are received by us at any event including stated meetings. We must all do our part regardless of size or importance of the task at hand, because what we do as individuals affects the whole. Hebrews 11:1 “for we walk by faith not by sight”. Fraternally Your, Kyle A. Guyot, 32°,KSA Chieftain Commander Hardy Bell, 32°, KSA Vice Chieftain Commander
