Ref. No. The Scottish Referendum Study: 1997 We are carrying out a study of the referendum on a Scottish Parliament, held on September 11th. As part of this study we are seeking the views of a sample of Scottish voters selected at random from the electoral register. Your name has been selected and we would be very grateful if you would help by completing this questionnaire and returning it in the pre-paid envelope provided. Filling in the questionnaire mostly involves just ticking boxes to indicate your reply and it should only take a few minutes of your time. This is a university study and all replies will be treated in confidence. Reporting of the results - we hope in a book - will be in summary statistical form. We have no connection with any commercial firm. If you do not want to give us your views just return the blank questionnaire in the envelope and we won't bother you further. But we hope that you will answer the questions and help us to find out the views of a good cross-section of voters. We are carrying out a study of the referendum on a Scottish Parliament, held on September11th. As part of this study we are seeking the views of a sample of Scottish voters selectedat random from the electoral register. Your name has been selected and we would be verygrateful if you would help by completing this questionnaire and returning it in the pre-paidenvelope provided. Filling in the questionnaire mostly involves just ticking boxes toindicate your reply and it should only take a few minutes of your time.

This is a university study and all replies will be treated in confidence. Reporting of theresults - we hope in a book - will be in summary statistical form. We have no connectionwith any commercial firm.
