Namo Guru Dakinayeh! A cubit above the crown of my head,

Namo guru dakiyeh. Neh chiwo’i tsuk gi tru gangpa•

On a three-tiered seat of moon, sun and lotus,Den pema nyi da sum tseg teng•

In a pavilion filled with masses of rainbow light,Za ö pung trigpai gur gang nang•

Is the Lama in whom I have faith,Rang depa gang yö lama dang•

In essence inseparable from the Mother of the four noble ones.Dön yermai pak shi kyepai yum•

MaChik, the Torch of Lab, white in form,Ma lab kyi drönma ku dog kar•

Her bound up hair flows down her back.U ralwa silbü ku kyab nön•

Face peacefully smiling, her three eyes gaze into space.Shel shi dzum chen sum namkar zig•

The silken garments on her body flutter in the wind, Ku dar karpö ka lung gi kyö•

Her right hand holds a damaru of gold,Chak yepai ser ki damaru•

Whose rhythm fills the three-fold worlds.Deh drölweh tong sum dra yi gang•

From the pure Buddha field, the Dharma Realm of None Higher (Og Min)

Neh ögmin chöying shing kam neh•

Buddhas, bodhisattvas and realized siddhas gather;Seh sangyé jangsem drubtob tsok•

Coming like a rich harvest carried by the wind,Peh shog kya lung gi kyö shin jön •

In her heart, an AH sits atop a moon disc, encircled by the mantra.Tuk da teng AH yig ngak kyi kor•

With a red silk sash bound around her waist,Ku kepa dar mar karak ching•

They all dissolve into Machik’s form.Deh tamché Machik ku la tim•

The left hand holds a silver bell,Chak yönpai ngül kar drilbu deh•

This precious body, with its opportunities & leisures, is so difficult to obtain; Lü tob ka del jor rinchen di•

—Bless me that I realize the essential point. Dak nyingpo lönpar jin gyi lob•

The time of the enemy, the Lord of Death, is uncertain;Dra chidak nam ong cha meh pa•

—Bless me that I achieve a mind of no regrets. Lo chö meh drubpar jin ji lob•

Sole Mother, the Torch of Lab, the gathering place of all sources of refuge,Kyab kün dü Machik Labdrönma•

I pray to you from the rock-bone depths of my heart.Nying rüpai ting neh sölwa deb•

They all dissolve into the form of the Mother.

Deh tamché yum gi ku la tim•

Coming like a blizzard of snow,Peh kawa bu yuk tsub shin jön•

The dakinis of the twenty-four places gather;Neh nyi shu tsa shi khandroi tsok•

Whose sibilant ringing fills the ten directions.Deh sil sil dra yi chog chur gang•

The six kinds of beings are my kind parents; Ma dro druk pa ma drin chen la•

—Bless me that love and compassion arise.Jam nyingjé kyewar jin ji lob•

The ultimate point is that my own mind is the naked Dharmakaya;Dön rang sem chö ku jen pa la•

—Bless me that I realize this truth. Deh tenpa tobpar jin gi lob•

Internally, the laws of karma are the absolute ruler;Kong chö kyi gyelpoi trim ra neh•

—Bless me that my true nature is without shame. Rang ngo nong mepar jin gyi lob•

Wherever one is born in the Six Classes of Beings, suffering is there;Neh rig druk gang du kyé kyang dug•

—Bless me that the doors to these births be shut. Deh kyé go chöpar jin gyi lob•

The certain and infallible refuges are the Three Jewels;Kyab mi lu ngepai kön chog la•

—Bless me that I experience the arisal of certainty.Sem yi che kyepar jin gyi lob •

That and myself become an inseperable unity. Deh dak dang yermeh chik gyur neh•

Through all these connections may I experience Great Bliss.Gang drel tse deh chen dren par shog•

Then through the force of these prayers,Dak deh tar sölwa tab pai tü•

The Great Mother dissolves into light and melts into me;Ma yumchen ög shu dak la tim•

The body, speech and mind of the Sole Mother Lab Drönma, Ma lab kyi drönmai ku sung tuk•

Like water poured into water, Deh chu la chu shak ji shin du•

When you look at mind, nothing can be seen—it is insubstantial;Sem tepai mi tong ngö po meh•

This is the truth of openness, Sunyata, as your own consciousness. Chö tongpa nyi deh rang gi sem•

My mind drops into its naked, uncontrived state. Dön rang sem drö drel jenpar bü•

Now, look inwards, look at your mind. Da tsur tö rang gi sem la tö•

Ma dro druk pa ma drin chen la

Jam nyingjé kyewar jin ji lob

Dön rang sem chö ku jen pa la

Deh tenpa tobpar jin gi lob

Kong chö kyi gyelpoi trim ra neh

Rang ngo nong mepar jin gyi lob

Neh rig druk gang du kyé kyang dug

Deh kyé go chöpar jin gyi lob

Kyab mi lu ngepai kön chog la

Sem yi che kyepar jin gyi lob

This is the truth of one’s own mind as Wisdom Awareness.Chö rigpai yeshé rang gi sem•

This is the truth of the Great Seal of bliss-openness. Chö deh tong chyagya chenpo yin•

If you experience luminosity, look at the essence of clarity;Sem sel na selwai ngowor tö•

This is the truth of the Great Seal of luminosity-openness. Chö sel tong chakgya chenpo yin•

If you experience openness, look at the essence of no-thing-ness;Sem tong na tongpai ngowor tö•

This is the truth of the Great Seal of non-conceptuality. Chö mi tok chakgya chenpo yin•

If you experience bliss, look at the essence of joy;Sem deh na dewai ngowo tö•

Mind does not exist, yet from this anything whatsoever can arise. Sem mepa ma yin chi yang char•

When viewed in this way, there is nothing whatsoever to be seen;Tsül teh peh tong gyu chi yang may•

This the truth of dropping into naked ordinary mind. Chö tamel shepa jenpar bü•

While forms are clearly distinguished, they are empty of any real essence;Jug so sor sel yang ngowo tong•

Whatever of the five poisons arise in one’s mind, Sem dug nga’i tokpa chi shar yang•

Looking right at them, they are pacified in their own ground;Deh rang ngo teh peh rang sar shi•

This truth is the sacred instruction of self-liberation of the five poisons.Chö dugngel rang dröl dam ngak yin•

Whatever manifestations of happiness or suffering arise in mind.Sem kyi duk nangwa chi shar yang•

Look at their very essence, and they will subside on their own ground;Deh rang ngo tepeh rang sar shi•

This is the truth of phenomenal existence arising on its own, like an illusion.Chö nang si gyuma rang shar yin •

Looking outwards, everything is as a rainbow.Par teh peh tamché jatsön shin•

This is the truth of the Great Seal of equal taste. Chö ro nyom chagya chenpo yin•

Whatever terrifying appearances arise in mind,Sem tral nang natsog chi shar yang•

One Taste

This is the truth of the Great Seal of Cutting through Phenomena, Chöd Yul.Chö chö yül chakgya chenpo yin•

Look at their self-nature and let them subside on their own ground;Deh rang ngo tepeh rang sar shi•

This is the sacred truth of Calming Suffering, (Shi Jay).Deh dam chö dugngel shijé yin•

Mind is free from being or nothingness, affirmation or negation;Sem yö meh tak ché kün dang drel•

This is the sacred truth of the Great Middle Way.Deh dam chö uma chenpo yin•

There is no phenomena that is not completed in the mind;Deh sem la ma dzog chö chik meh•

Whatever appearances of suffering arise in one’s mind, Sem dugngel nang na chi shar yang•

Look at their essence and they will settle in their own ground;Deh ngowo tepeh rang sar shi•

This is the sacred truth of the Great Perfection. Deh dam chö dzokpa chenpo yin•

The mind of the Victorious Ones and one’s own mind,Yar gyelwai tuk dang rang gi sem•

This is the view that samsara and nirvana are inseparable. Deh tawa kor deh yermeh yin•

This is ordinary mind, nakedly.

Deh tamel shepa jenpa yin•

Relax your mind, without looking or something looked for;Sem ta ja ta jeh mepar shog•

This is the actual practice of Mahamudra.Deh chakgya chenpoi nyamlen yin•

To keep the way of view and practice uncontaminated, Chö tawa chöpa ma leh pa•

Protect the three levels of vows like one’s own eyes;Rang dom sum mik dreh tabur sung•

Meditate on this mind, resting without any goal;

Sem di gom teh so mepar shog•

And that of all mother sentient beings of the six realms, are of the same essence;Ma dro druk sem nam ngowo chik•

Mix the two streams of the Kadampa and the Mahamudra.Deh ka chag chuwo nyi dreh yin•

The point is to attain stability of mind;Dön rang sem tenpa tobpa yin•

This prayer was written down on paper for the hermit Jomo by Raga Asya in a camp on Dharma Mountain in Tö.

This is given the name of fruition. De drebu’i ming du takpa yin•

This is the truth of the fruition of the way of Secret Mantra. Chö sang ngak lug kyi drebu yin•
