The Australian Sports Foundation wasestablished by the Federal Governmentin 1986 with the mission to raise moneyfor Australian sport. For over 30 years we have helped clubs and organisations from the grassroots and community level, to professional and elite national level, and individual athletes to fundraise for sport.

We have helped raise over $300 million in additional funding for Australian sport which has resulted in more opportunities for people to participate in sport at all levels.

With over 2000 projects and 1200 organisations and athletes signed up, we know we can help you too.

OUR TRANSFORMATION 2014-2016Over the past 24 months we’ve transformed to become an independent organisation and have worked hard to make it easier to fundraise for sport. We have:

- Increased our digital capabilities and resources to offer more support to fundraising activities.

- Aligned dedicated Sports Partnership Managers to projects and regions.

- Separated operationally and strategically from the Australian Sports Commission to become self-funded.

- Refocused our Mission: to raise money for the development of sport.

- Brought our business into line with the needs of sport today.

OUR FUNDRAISING PROGRAMS

FUNDRAISING4SPORT – F4SFundraising4Sport is just that, fundraising for large organisations through to individual athletes, from grassroots to professional and representative levels. There are three separate program sub-sets to cover the range of projects across Australia:

Club and Organisation Clubs and Organisations can raise funds for projects and programs that will develop their sport, increase participation, fund team travel and facilities, fund high performance or create pathways.

Community Fundraising It’s crowdfunding for sports lovers. Your community – schools, shops, workplaces, teams, individuals – join with your fans, members, and athletes to be part of your fundraising.

Athlete FundraisingAthletes who are training and participating to achieve State or National level representation can sign up and fundraise to support their sporting needs. The program supports Junior, Open and Masters athletes.

How it works - An organisation or representative athlete can sign up themselves (or a particular project) with us.

- Donations are made to projects through the Australian Sports Foundation allowing donors to claim a tax deduction for donations of $2 or more.

- Donors nominate their preferred project as the beneficiary of their gift and we grant funds raised to the nominated organisation or athlete.

- All projects signed up with us get their own page on our website with an online donation facility, making it easy for donors to support to a project.

- Once signed up, organisations or athletes get their very own portal to log in and track donations and project progress.

GIVING4GRASSROOTSTM – G4GTM

- G4GTM is our small grants program focused on increasing participation in grassroots and community sport across Australia.

- The G4GTM program provides grants for community-based organisations to help them carry out projects and programs to increase participation in community sport.

- Funds for the G4GTM program come from generous donations by members of the wider sports-passionate Australian community.

SPORTS FUNDRAISING Fundraising for, and donating to sport have become just as common as supporting any other cause in Australia.

Five reasons why people donate to sport:

1. Culture – sport plays a huge role in the Australian way of life.

2. Social and Community benefits – sport helps to build a sense of community and belonging.

3. Health – sport has a direct positive impact on our health.

4. Economic – sport is an important contributor to the economy.

5. Emotional – being part of a sporting community or helping a sport succeed makes people feel good.

TAX DEDUCTIBILITY FOR AUSTRALIAN SPORT!The Australian Sports Foundation is uniquely positioned to enable philanthropic support to Australian sport by providing tax deductibility for donations made to projects signed up with us. We are the only organisation that can provide a tax deduction for donations to sport across Australia.

We are a deductible gift recipient (DGR), and have a special listing in the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Subdivision 30-B, s30-90).
