Shaping Shorts Breaks All local authorities are required to review their Short Breaks Statement each year. The revised statement outlines the new way in which short breaks are delivered and gives up to date information on a range of services relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

After brilliant success with schools achieving Charter Gold status, the Charter Team have worked hard to adapt the process so that services can now achieve ‘Gold’ too.

Chat ‘n’ Chill has worked hard to show their dedication to the values and principles of the Rotherham Charter, and in June 2016 they became the first service to achieve Charter Gold.

The Rotherham Charter is a set of principles which promotes a culture of trust between parents, carers, children, young people, schools and settings. This trust is based on four main principles:

Not only is it now possible for services within Rotherham to achieve the Rotherham Charter, but with the launch of Genuine Partnerships the team has gone national.

If, as a parent or carer, you are interested in learning more about Genuine Partnerships and the Rotherham Charter then visit our websites to find out more at www.genuinepartnerships.co.uk or www.rotherhamcharter.co.uk

Alternatively you can contact RMBC Charter Officer Eva on 01709 254793 [email protected] or Jayne at Rotherham Parent Forum 01709 296262 [email protected]

Magical Reindeer ExperienceRotherham Town CentreSaturday 17 December, 10.30am – 3.30pmWhat do you mean, ‘Rudolf isn’t real’ of course he is! Come along to Rotherham Town Centre and meet the real reindeer and Father Christmas too at this magical Christmas event.

The parade sets of at 12.45pm, travelling round town before entering a viewing area outside Boots until 3pm.

Look out for the Acrobatic Elves as they make their way around town spreading fun and mischief.

Relaxed Performance of Snow White Rotherham Civic Theatre Tuesday 27 December 2016 at 11am Relaxed performances are designed to provide a more comfortable experience for adults or children who may find it more difficult to sit still and stay quiet for the full duration of theatre performances, or who may feel uncomfortable when a show has a lot of flashing lights and noisy special effects.

During relaxed performances, we don’t ask everyone to keep quiet and we don’t mind if people move around or come in and out of the auditorium during the performance. We provide extra auditorium lighting during the performance and fewer special effects to create a calm and relaxed experience.

To book tickets visit: www.rotherhamtheatres.co.uk or ring 01709 823621

In Rotherham there’s something rather special happening…

Grimm & Co’s Apothecary to the Magical was established in 1148 by our celebrated founder, Master Graham Grimm.

Whilst in the shop, why not write to your favourite fairytale character? The BFG shops here regularly, and collects dreams that our young people write for him. Check your magical levels on our magic-o-meter and visit the Museum of Magical Artefacts to see Cinderella’s slipper, the Princess’ Pea, and much more.

We also have a Forgotten Library with sad, lonely stories that need a home - come and snuggle up with a good book and a hot drink, and even take home a book to love forever! The apothecary space is mostly accessible for young people with physical disabilities and mobility issue. There is also an accessible toilet in the facility.

For more information visit www.grimmandco.co.uk or pop in to see us at 2 Doncaster Gate.

The Elephant’s In-Step Club continues to offer quality social provision for young people aged 13 – 25 with disabilities. The sessions are fully staffed by qualified youth workers and support staff. Transport can be provided at a cost.

Sessions take place once a month at Dalton Youth Centre, telephone 01709 851755.

For more information, please contact claire Haddon on 07791789570

Activities include dance and karaoke, arts and crafts, massage therapy and themed games. Prizes for best dressed. Refreshments included.

The LGBT group is for young people aged 13-19 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning.

The group provides support for young people in Rotherham and meets on a Tuesday, 6-9pm at a confidential location.Contact 07887057462 for more information.
