- It is locatedat 5757WoodlawnChicago, Illinios.Robiehimself bought the siteonMay19th ,1908 for $13,500, and had previously agreed on April 8th that he would build nothing but aresidence.
-FrederickCarltonRobiewasanonlychildwhogrewtohaveonlyoneambition, tobe“agreatmanufacturer”. He was born August 14, 1879. When he was 16, he entered the school ofmechanicalenginneringatPurdueUniversity.Heleft4yearslaterwithnodegreeandreturnedtoChicagotoworkwithhisfather.
-HesoldbicycleswhilehisstayinLafayette.
-“Everything about the site suggested a long, low, streamlined shiplike house: the prairie, thenearbylake,thenewsenseofspeed,thestillunshakenfaithinthemachingandtheshapeofthelot,threetimesaslongasitwaswide”.
-WrightdepartedfromhisusualcruciformandpinwheelplansandgavetotheplanoftheRobieHouseararebeautyanddynamismgeneratedbyanewkindofasymmetricbalance.
-BytheendofMach1909,theworkingdrawingswereathandandRobiehadsignedthem.
-Robie watched his house rise with walls of brick, copings and sills of cut stone, floors andbalconiesofreinforcedconcrete,beamsofsteelandafinalstoryframedofwood.

- June8, 1867-April 9, 1959,hewasnotonlyanarchitect, but an interior designer,writer andeducatorwhodesignedmorethan1,000projects.
-HewastheleaderofthePrairieSchoolMovementwhichisthedesignstyleoftheRobieHouse.
-deemedthe“greatestAmericanarchitectofalltime”bytheAIAin1991.
-HeattendedMadisonhighschoolbut there isnoevidence thathegraduated.Admitted to theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison as a special student in 1886. While there he worked frof aprofessorofcivilenginneringAllanD.Conover.
-In 1887 he left the school without taking a degee and moved to Chicago and joined thearchitectual firm of Joseph LymanSilsbee. (in 1955 hewas granted an honoraryDoctorate ofFineArtsfromtheUniversityofWisconsin-Madison).
-Wrightpracticedwhatisknownasorganicarchitecture,anarchitecturethatevolvesnaturallyoutofthecontext,mostimportantlyforhimtherelationshipbetweenthesiteandthebuildingandtheneedsoftheclient.
