The Road to El DoradoTulio and Miguel are two friends, who live in Spain. By accident, they fnd themselves on Cortes ship sailing for the New orld to con!uer it, with a mapto "l #orado, the city of gold. Shipwrec$ed, they fnd their way to the hidden entrance to the city. They meet Chel, a young woman who stays with them %ut who is the cause of a !uarrel %etween the friends. They are greeted as gods, given all the gold they want. They prevent the evil priest T&e$el'(an from $illing the people in sacrifce. T&e$el'(an %etrays his people %y leading Cortes to them. They are immediately worshipped and given a temple to live in, %ut Chel discovers they are not really gods, %ut out to steal the city/s gold. Chel as$s to team up with them and, realising that they will need Chel/s help in navigating ,&tec culture, Tulio and Miguel agree.Miguel goes e*ploring and realises that he doesn/t want to leave thisnew land, %ut Tulio and Chel ' who are now in love ' want to go %ac$ To Spain. -owever they must %oth fght together to defeat the high priest. They thin$ they have destroyed him, %ut when it %ecomes clear that the priest survived the %attle and is now leading new Spanish travellers through the 0ungle towards the city, Tulio realises that he must sacrifce all histreasure to save "l #orado. They do this %y closing the waterway entrance to the city forever, leaving Tulio, Miguel, Chel and ,ltivo trapped on the outside and o1 to fnd another adventure.The ne*t day, the high priest o1ers to sacrifce a local man in honour of Tulio and Miguel, as he %elieves a prophecy that declares sacrifce will %e the theme of the reign of the 2new gods. The Spaniards manage to stop him, %ut decide to leave with the gold that has now %een %estowed upon them, %ut they must wait three days for a %oat. #uring this time, Miguel cuts himself and the high priest realises that, as gods do not %leed, Miguel must %e human ' and therefore the duo/s unwillingness tosacrifce other humans is e*plained.Tulio and Miguel are two Spanish conmen, who cheat local gam%lers %y playing with loaded dice. They win an old treasure map to a mysterious place called "l #orado, %ut soon after their cheating is discovered and in the commotion they end up on a ship %ound for ,merica. They, and their horse ,ltivo, manage to escape the ship and a stormcarries them to a strange land. They discover they still have the map, and set o1 in search of "l #orado ' the city of gold.2.
