husband, Manoj’s interests, likes and dislikes are

in absolute sync with each other. We think alikeand understand each other superbly. So whilediscussing and brainstorming about the houseand its décor, we knew what wewanted exactly.Both Manoj and I decided to make this house amodern, chic and minimalistic yet contemporarilystyled house”, explains Vandy.She urther states,“While shopping at the Milan urniture exhibitionor the interiors, we stuck to our theme o huntingmodern and classy urniture and didn’t even enterthe Victorian or ethnic section, as the latter didn’treect our notion.Moreover, I believe a house isan extension o your personality”.

The house is the brainchild o the coupleand the amous architect, Vidur Baradwaj. “Myprevious house had wall-to-wall carpeting whichmade it difcult or me to clean and maintain.Back then my children were young and it wasa tedious job to maintain the house as wall-to-

wall carpets attracted dust and made it messy.So when we shited to this house, we keptin mind to bring in a basic and contemporaryhouse”. The household is an interesting mix oclassy stu put together in a tasteul manner.On the ground oor, adding charm to thisresidence are dark wood couches, a ew personalphotographs, handpicked vibrant paintings andartworks, a cleverly positioned dining table andaesthetically placed arteacts. The dining area isa level higher than the living room. Vandy is atrue believer ovastu-shastra. “My entire housecomplies with the principles o vastu. Every littlething is placed according to vastu-shastra.I am

a complete believer and ollowero this science”,admits Vandy with a smile. The dierent areason the ground oor and basement are cleverlyseparated through glass walls. These glass wallsare or allowing easier and open communicationow between amily members.

The lower ground oor or basement is themain entertainment area o the house. It has aully equipped gym, a pool table, a home theatrearea and a stunning bar. Speaking about the barVandy says, “The bar isa custom-made piece byNikhil Verma, an artist. The installations on the

walls which you see upon entering are alsocustom-made by Nikhil. This is both my son’s andhusband’savourite place. We love to invite ourriends or partying and the basement stands aperect place or a hang-out”.The house also hasanin-house elevator or easy access to dierentoors.

Vandy stays in this gorgeous manor with hersmall yet closely bonded amily,comprising herhusband – Manoj, two beautiul children – Aanchaland Ayush and her dotting mom-in-law, Ms. KirtiRani Mehrra. Vandy and her children’srooms areon the frst oor. While Vandy’s room is adornedwith Fendi urnishings, her children’s rooms are

ascinatingly done according to their dierenttastescomprising o many high-end Italian andRussian urnishings. On her son’s demand, theyhave one more home theatre area on this oorwhich even has a small pantry section. Her dottingmom-in-law whom she lovingly addresses as ‘ma’

stays on the ground oor. “Ma’s room is myavourite corner in the whole house. Ater hecticschedules and long day at work, children, Manojand I just love to spend time in her room. Herroom revives all the warm and pleasant memories

o my childhood house. I am blessed to have amother like her. It’s every girl’s dream to have abeautiul and happy amily. By god’s grace I haveone. All these mansions and material things willcome and go but having and maintaining a happyamily is difcult to achieve”,shares Vandy. n
