Voting Statistics Only 58.5% of people ages 18 to 24 voted in 2008 Highest demographic was people ages 65 to 74 Serious problem 5. How to Register Go online to register Visit local registration office Register at DMV After registering, you will receive vote ID card in mail 7. Absentee Voting Allows you to vote anywhere Useful for college students, elderly and military Can register either by mail or in person Can also register online if you have a Virginia ID card or drivers license 8. Why Should You Vote? Is your civic duty No real disadvantage to voting Only obstacle is cynicism Better to have voted and lost than to have not voted at all 9. Reasons to Vote 1. Because its your right 2. Because it protects your preferences 3. Because it can make a difference 4. Because it drives change 10.
