16,000 children die each day due to

starvation and starvation related causes.

Volunteer, give and pray and you can help

to change that statistic!

Volunteer Feed My Starving Children volunteers save lives by hand packing meals for malnourished

children! Each meal has all of the nutrients a starving child needs in a day and costs just

15 cents to produce.

Each volunteer packs an average of $35 worth of food—more than a box of meals—in a 2-hour session! That will feed a child for 8 months!

In 2006, volunteers packed 30 million meals to feed starving children in more than 45

countries!

Upcoming Dates: Thursday, September 22 8-9:30 p.m.

Friday, December 2 8-9:30 p.m.

Friday, December 9 6-7:30 p.m.

Give Time and Energy: Pack meals for a 1.5-hour shift at our facility at 1071 National Parkway,

Schaumburg, IL.

Donations: Consider purchasing a box of food for $35. Any donation will make a big difference

to a starving child. At 15 cents per meal, we need to raise $6 million for this year’s expenses.

Pray Feed My Starving Children is a Christian, nonprofit organization; please pray for God’s blessing

of the packing site in Schaumburg.

Pray for FMSC and starving children around the world.

1072 National Parkway— Schaumburg

Dear Families:

We are excited to begin this new Religious Education format called GATHER; Family Faith Formation. Thank you to all families who have already registered! Recently, our staff visited a parish, St. Anthony on the Lake in Pewaukee, Wisconsin to learn more about the logistics of their award-winning Family Faith Formation program. Their staff told us that it is a huge act of love to develop this model in a parish, because it is not easy, but it is the most effective formation to date. So we move on in faith. We are asking families to register ASAP; thank you- we appreciate your attention to this. It will give us the best chance to prepare in a timely manner. Full payment at this time is appreciated, or stop in the RE /YM Office for a five-month payment plan. Please bring in your registration packet we prepared for you to the RE/YM Office or Parish Office (9am-5pm) ASAP. If you do not have the packets we prepared for you, there are registration forms in the office or on our website; saintmargaretmary.org/religiouseducation/registrationforms. We will be working all summer to prepare for the sessions and train catechists. We are still accepting volunteers in many areas for this new journey to be a success. We are excited to have a high school component which will tackle tough questions and read fun and interesting books for reflection. So, we are looking for wonderful, loving and patient people to be catechists and facilitators. If you hear a calling to form young disciples, give us a call. We also have lots of opportunities for project team, snack help and technology. Please call either of us to join the team. We thank you for trusting us with this new adventure with your family and ask you for any input, topics and questions. We are blessed to journey with you! We ask for continued prayers for this new GATHER year and know of our prayers for all of you.

Peace and Goodness,

Parishoners, families and friends are

invited to participate in the 5th

annual Walk for the Poor on

Saturday, September 19 sponsored

by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

This local event will be held at our

very own parish this year. Last

year, over 200 walks were held at

Catholic churches across the country

to raise money to help the needy in

various communities and to raise

awareness of the challenges faced by

the nation’s poor. This year’s 5K

event also includes a “run” option for

interested participants. Organized

in conjunction with the Chicago Area

Running Association, the 5K even

will be timed and certified. Cost for

runners is $30. Walkers are

required to obtain sponsorship

pledges instead of an entry fee. The

Friends of the Poor Walk is one of

the major fundraisers sponsored by

St. Margaret Mary St. Vincent

DePaul. Walkers collect pledge

money from family members, friends

and neighbors. All monies raised

by St. Margaret Mary walkers go

directly to our St. Vincent

DePaul treasury to assist

families in need in Algonquin

and Lake in the Hills. Please

consider giving a morning of your

time to help you fellow neighbor,

socialize with friends, get exercise,

and set a wonderful example for

your friends. Bring the whole

family!

Registration begins at 7:30 AM and

the Walk starts at 8AM.

You can pick up a Walker Pledge

Sheet at the Youth Ministry Office.
