Year 5 Trip to the Sarius Palmetum Botanical Gardens

On Tuesday 8th of November, 2016 the Year 5 pupils took a trip to the Sarius Palmetum Botanical

Gardens. The excursion was relevant to their Science topic on ‘Animals and their habitats’. The children

had the opportunity to visit the plant nursery and to see the variety of palms cultivated there. During

the tour, a guide answered all their questions and the children had a fun filled and informative

morning. At the end of the trip, all the Year 5 pupils brought back a lovely red Anthurium Flower called

the ‘Laceleaf’ for the school office.

We caught up with one of our new teachers, Mrs Elaine Breen, the Head of Special Needs, and gave her the Regent Hula Challenge. She had to try to hula hoop for 60 seconds while we asked her 10 questions.

She answered her questions in 39 seconds and only

dropped the hoop a few times!

Go Mrs Elaine Breen!

Thank you for being such a good sport!
