The Progression Of The Working ManCraig Allan

    14th December - 13th January

Resonate Arts House is delighted to present the rst solo exhibition at Resonate ofFalkirk based artist Craig Allan. Attracted by the physical, chemical and biological

possibilities that take place within the world of art, The Progression Of The WorkingManexplores the need to create things from the world not only as an animated being

but as the producer of magical deeds. As artist-alchemist Allan organises man madeand organic matter into marvellous objects: Ink portraits of philosophers are seen tobe socialising with Beat Poets amongst sculptural orators, whom are illuminated byshowbiz spotlights in order to re-nd the materials and extol them. The emphasis ofthe work is rmly only the processes involved in the making the objects, duct tapeis used as an adhesive to complete the work, laminate ooring becomes platform inwhich comments about society can be made and a childs tracer is transformed intoa screen projector, The use of these materials highlights the artists interest in ArtePovera and the Unmonunmental.

Curated by Craig Allan, the exhibition draws substance from the every day, leavingeverything uncovered for the viewer to see, thus abolishing the rules of what it is tobe an artist, intellectual, painter or writer, so that we can learn again how to feel andunderstand, to move oneself and to re-nd the world.

The Progression Of The Working Man, Allans inaugural show at Resonate opens onthe 14th of December. Craig Allan graduated from the Cumbria Institute of the Arts(2010) and is currently the editor of the artist zine [Untitled] and creator of theFalkirk Art Map.
