Letter from the PresidentMatthew Schulze, PGA

Welcome to Summer Time!

As I come up for air after a wet but successful LPGA Kingsmill Championship, I am ex-cited by all that is going on in the PGA and most importantly the Middle Atlantic PGA. I would like to first congratulate Dirk Schultz, Jim Estes, and Rick Schuller in representing the MAPGA at this year’s Senior PGA Championship presented by Kitchen Aid. Con-gratulations to Rick Schuller for his opening 3-under par 68 and making the cut. It is always exciting to see our Professionals perform so well on the national level.

As our industry becomes more technologically advanced, I am excited to announce that in late June/early July our website MAPGA.com will be getting a complete transforma-tion. This new mobile friendly website will help us better showcase our PGA Members and better represent our brand as the leaders in the game of golf.

Along similar lines, the MAPGA Directory is now on the MAPGA App and is very easy to use. It lists all Members and Apprentices in our section, all facilities, and all MAPGA Partners. For more information about how to download our App and use the directory, see page 7.

Lastly, I want to remind all of you of the MAPGA Junior Tour and the MAPGA Mini-Mul-ligans Tour, both set for this summer. These two tours are perfect for juniors ages 6-18 of any skill level. We feel these tours are a great way for PGA Junior League players to take the next step to play in individual events after their matches and seasons are complete.

In this month’s edition of the MAPGA Professional presented by Celtic Golf, we hope you enjoy our highlight of the Club Car Pro-President, a Player Profile on Yong Joo, and rec-ognizing our 13 PGA Professionals that will play in the PGA Professional Championship later this month. As always, I encourage all of our MAPGA Professionals to go out and play with your members/patrons and register to play in an MAPGA tournament.

Best wishes on your busy season, and I hope to see you on the course soon!

Mini-Mulligans Schedule

The MAPGA is proud to continue its popular Mini-Mulligans Tour this summer!

The Mini-Mulligans Tour is a great introduction to tournament golf for beginning juniors ages 6-9. The three and six hole divisions offer the perfect opportunity for your child to learn the game of golf, meet

friends and have fun.

The MAPGA will be having a kickoff event at TopGolf Loudoun June 29 at 12 p.m. This is a chance to meet MAPGA Mini-Mulligans staff and hit the driving range with your future junior golfer.

There is no membership fee. Each tournament would cost $25 dollars for the six-hole division and $15 for the three-hole division. Entry fee covers golf and lunch following the event.

All Events Are Now Open For Registration! To register for this event and learn more about Mini-Mulligans, please click here.
