The Principles Of Biblical Interpretation

The Bible is the collection of sacred texts or the words of God.

The Bible was originally written in Hebrew or Greek language which is known by a few people.

To make it accessible for others, they started the interpretation of Bible.

The word interpret also mean “to understand” or “to translate” and “to explain”.

The interpreter first understands what the text is saying, then translates it to a theological message. After that some

selected person can explain it to the followers.

But for accurate interpretation of Biblical scripture, the interpreter follows some principles--

1 :- Identify the genre of text or scripture

The genre of the text means whether the scripture is in form of - narrative, prophecy, poetry, history, gospel, or

epistle.

The different genre presents the meaning in different way like narrative texts do not convey the message the same

way epistles do.

The variety of literature genre and studying is really a complicated process.

2 :- Follow the context of the passage

The most important principle of accurate Bible interpretation is the use of context to discuss various aspects like historical, social,

political, religious, literary etc.

The context helps the writer to interpret the meaning logically and answer clearly t0 the readers.

3 :- Reading the plain and accurate meaning

It's always a misconception that the actual meaning of the Bible is concealed behind the

surface massage.

The Bible uses symbolic or figurative language that people can grasp in form of text and most of it is clear to the readers.

4:- Preaching writers intention

When a reader starts to read, he just focuses on finding the sermon rather the writer's intended

massage.

The text reveals that until you won't find the writer's intended meaning,

you will not get the right meaning in your sermon.

5 :- Finding the accurate meaning of the text by following the language

The word of the text carries writer's thoughts. When you study the

original language of the text you will gain the accurate insight of the

scripture.

Most of the writers follow the Greek and Hebrew language to

gain an open insight of the message, but if you want, you can follow the guide books to

get the accurate of it.

The text always has one intended meaning but there are a number of theological themes.

6 :- Extracting the accurate theological theme in the text

The interpreter need to identify these themes by understanding how they related to each other. It is the key

to grasp the meaning.

7:- Interpretation of God's creation

The Bible is the God's way of making himself known to us.

The text of the scripture reveals God and his dealings with his beautiful creation—mankind.

The Bible is there to tell us about the God whom you can either serve or deny to serve.

The sacred text of the Bible gives instruction to us about how to preach or

follow ---- which reveals the God's message to his creation.
