COLIN McENROE is a well-known Connecticut personality, a witty, and opinionated radio talk show host, columnist, author, social commentator, and playwright. Colin hosts a weekday afternoon drive talk show on WTIC-AM, the largest radio station in Connecticut. His books include two humor collections published by Doubleday and a memoir, My Father's Footprints. He is a contributing editor at Men's Health magazine and has been one, in the past, at Mirabella, Mademoiselle and Verge. His writing has also appeared in Forbes, Cosmopolitan, Family Fun and Metropolitan Home. Colin is a weekly columnist in the Hartford Courant’s Northeast Magazine; he has been with The Courant for over 20 years (1976-1995) as a reporter and columnist. In addition, his columns have appeared in hundreds of newspapers across America and abroad. ADAM BERNARD (pictured at far left, with rapper Mr. Tibbs (center) and journalist Chaz Kangas): Entertainment journalist with over a decade of experience. Lover of good music, fringe movies, day baseball. A 1996 graduate of Fairfield Prep, Bernard recently earned a master’s degree in American Studies from Fairfield University. He has written for local publications such as Fairfield County Weekly and national ones, including XXL and The Source. Armed with 11 years of experience writing for local and national publications, Bernard's latest book delves into three vital subjects: performance, promotions and people skills. Expanding on each topic, he covers everything from the benefit of selling CDs (EPs, preferably) at live performances to the importance of rocking small crowds (they can make or break an artist, it turns out) to “bringing the real” during interviews (journalists—at least Bernard—want to know about your pet komodo dragon). Great radio intrigues, informs and inspires. That's what NAOMI STAROBIN and the news team aim for: not only the news, but the stories behind the news that give listeners a deeper, broader understanding. She is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and in previous careers was an environmental engineering consultant and teacher. She has won several awards for her features. Naomi was a fellow at the Wood's Hole Oceanographic Institution and at Minnesota Public Radio's Integrated Media Program, is a judge for the American Association for the Advancement of Science Journalism Awards, and is a board member of PRNDI, Public Radio News Directors Incorporated. She currently serves as News Director for WSHU. THE FIRST ANNUAL MIDDLE SCHOOL WRITING CONFERENCE AT GREENS FARMS ACADEMY DATE SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2012 TIME 12:00 to 4:00 P.M. PLACE M.S.
