THE SENIOR CHOIR

“Give Thanks to the Lord” Lloyd Larson

Thanksgiving Day – November 22, 2012

REFRAIN: Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name. Tell nations what He has done. Sing praise to the Lord for His mighty deeds. Give thanks to the Holy One!

Praise to the Lord, sing your praise to the Lord! Proclaim your salvation each day! Give thanks to the Lord, bow and worship the Lord! He is worthy in all His ways! (refrain)

Ascribe to the Lord all glory and strength, all the glory that’s due His name. Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth sing His praise. Let the nations resound, “God

reigns!”

We praise You, O God, our Redeemer, Creator; in grateful devotion our tribute we bring; we lay it before You; we kneel and adore You; we bless Your holy name, glad praises we

sing. (refrain)

With voices united our praises we offer, our songs of thanksgiving to You we now raise; Your strong arm will guide us, our God is beside us, to You, our great Redeemer, forever be praise!

Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name. Give thanks to the Lord, Who is ever the same. Give thanks to the Lord; give thanks to the Lord, Give thanks, give thanks to the Lord!

“Coronation” Craig Courtney

Christ the King Sunday– November 25, 2012

Crown Him, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace. Crown Him, the one who died and rose again to live forevermore.

Crown Him, the Bread of Life, High and holy Priest, Bright and Morning Star, He holds the keys of death. He holds the keys of hell.

He is ruler of the kings of earth. Crown Him, behold your King

Crown Him, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace. Crown Him, the One who died, who rose again, to live forevermore.

Crown Him, the Bread of Life, High and holy Priest, Bright and Morning Star, He holds the keys of death. He holds the keys of hell.

He is ruler of the kings of earth. Crown Him, behold your King

See Him coming with the clouds. Ev’ry eye shall see Him whom they have pierced. See Him who is the first and is the last, Alpha and Omega. He is the Living One.

He who is and was and who is to come. He has loved us unto death. He has freed us by His blood. He is the mighty Son of God.

Crown Him, behold your King. Behold Him! Behold Him! Behold the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Crown Him!

“Christ Is Our Cornerstone” Reformation Sunday– November 4, 2012

Refrain: Christ is our cornerstone; Christ, our sure foundation. We build on him who does all things well.

May we be living stones joined to build the temple In which the Holy Spirit will dwell.

Lord, we praise your holy name! What great things you have done! May the blessings of our church lead many to your Son.

If you had not blessed us, Lord, our work would be in vain. But when Jesus builds the house, we cannot help but gain. Refrain

Bless all those who gather here, and bless what we have heard. May our wisdom, Lord, be found in all things through your Word.

Honor, glory, thanks, and praise we bring, O Lord, to you. May our lives reflect your grace in all we say and do. Refrain

THE ALTAR SERVICE Pastor: Dear Friends, let us approach God with a true heart and confess our sins, asking him in the name

of our Lord Jesus Christ, to forgive us.

Congregation: LORD OF LIFE, I CONFESS THAT I AM BY NATURE DEAD IN SIN. FOR FAITHLESS WORRYING AND SELFISH PRIDE, FOR SINS OF HABIT AND SINS OF CHOICE, FOR THE EVIL I HAVE DONE AND THE GOOD I HAVE FAILED TO DO, YOU SHOULD CAST ME AWAY FROM YOUR PRESENCE FOREVER. O LORD, I AM SORRY FOR MY SINS. FORGIVE ME, FOR JESUS’ SAKE. Pastor: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. In his great mercy, God made us alive

in Christ even when we were dead in our sins. Hear the word of Christ through his called servant: I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Congregation: {spoken) AMEN.

Pastor: In peace, let us pray to the Lord. For the well-being of all people everywhere, that they may receive from you all they need to sustain

body and life, hear our prayer, O Lord.

Congregation: {spoken) LORD, HAVE MERCY. Pastor: For the spread of your life-giving gospel throughout the world, that all who are lost in sin

may be brought to faith in you, hear our prayer, O Christ.

Congregation: {spoken) CHRIST, HAVE MERCY.

Pastor: For patience and perseverance in this life, that we may not lose the hope of heaven as we await your return, hear our prayer, O Lord.

Congregation: {spoken) LORD, HAVE MERCY.

Pastor: Lord of life, live in us that we may live for you.

Congregation: {spoken) AMEN.

THE JUNIOR CHOIR

“Come, Jesus, Prince of Peace” Diane Hannibal; arranged by Brad Nix

Mid-Week Advent Service – December 5, 2012

Come, O come, Emmanuel, come to us and stay. Come, O come, Emmanuel, could this be the day?

Jesus, Prince of Peace, hope of all the earth; Come, O come, Emmanuel, we await Your birth.

Come, O come, Emmanuel, joy of heav’n come down. Come, O come, Emmanuel, King without a crown.

Jesus, Prince of Peace, come to guide our way; Come, O come, Emmanuel, live in us today.

Come, O come, Emmanuel, Branch of Jesse’s tree. Come, O come, Emmanuel, set Your children free.

Jesus, Prince of Peace, gentle as a dove; Come, O come, Emmanuel, Messenger of love.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel! Come, O come, Emmanuel, we await Your birth.

THE SENIOR CHOIR

“Come, Emmanuel!” Pepper Choplin

Mid-Week Advent Service – December 5, 2012 Ready, waiting, God is with us. Ready, waiting for Emmanuel.

God is with us, come, Emmanuel. Yearning, sighing for Emmanuel.

Praying, crying, “Emmanuel.” Come, Emmanuel! O come and with us dwell, with us dwell.

For unto you a child is born, to you a Son is given. Though He arrives through human birth,

He comes with full divinity. For unto you a Child is born, to you a Son is given.

No other one has come before, born of earth, born of heav’n, born of earth and heaven.

Come, Emmanuel. O come and with us dwell. Come Emmanuel! O come and with us dwell.

Come, Emmanuel. Come, Emmanuel. Ready, waiting, come, Emmanuel.

Come, Emmanuel, come and with us dwell. Emmanuel, Emmanuel, Emmanuel, Emmanuel. Come!

“Christmas Lullaby (The Gift)” George Stone

Christmas Eve -- December 24, 2012

Sing, sing, sing alleluia. Sing, sing, oh, sing alleluia. Sing of his praises; sing of our joy. Sing of the baby, Mary’s little boy.

Sing, sing, sing alleluia. Sing, sing, oh, sing alleluia. Glory to God, bless the gift that he brings. Blessed the baby; blessed the King.

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down where he lay, the little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

Sing, sing, sing alleluia. Sing, sing, oh, sing alleluia. Glory to God, bless the gift that he brings: the gift of a savior, the gift of a King.

“Born Where the Shadows Lie” Keith and Kristyn Getty arranged by Larry Shackley

Christmas Day -- December 25, 2012

Born where the shadows lie, to answer ev’ry cry of man, this Child who formed all life now breathes our breath.

Born where the Father loved, born helpless to a mother’s arms; she smoothed the tears upon the face of God.

Born now with man to dwell, our Lord Immanuel; come see the King, the Christ Child, born to us.

Born now with man to dwell, our Lord Immanuel. My soul can fin’lly know the God of heav’n.

Born with a road ahead, alone these blameless feet would tread the path God chose to walk before all time.

Born holding life and death, born bearing heaven’s wealth of peace that fills where none can fill, our Living Stream.

Born now with man to dwell, our Lord Immanuel’ come see the King, the Christ Child, born to us.

Born now with man to dwell, our Lord Immanuel, Immanuel, our Lord Immanuel. My soul can fin’lly know the God of heav’n.

THE OFFERTORY The offering will be gathered during the playing of the Offertory.

PRAYERS

THE JUNIOR CHOIR

“Our Father” The Lord’s Prayer in a Caribbean Style

Philip Kern

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, Thine is the power, thine is the glory, now and forever. Amen.

THE SENIOR CHOIR

“Lord Jesus, Think on Me” Jay Althouse

Ash Wednesday – February 13, 2013

Lord Jesus, think on me, and cast away my sin. From earthborn passions set me free, and make me pure within.

Lord Jesus, think on me with care and woe oppressed. Let me your loving servant be, and know your promised rest.

Lord Jesus, think on me amid the battle’s strife. In my time of need be my health and life, be my health and life.

Lord Jesus, think on me nor let me go astray. Through darkness and perplexity, guide me on your way.

Lord Jesus, think on me.

“Upon the Cross Extended” Charles Schramm, Jr.

Mid-Week Lenten Service –March 13, 2013

Upon the cross extended See, your Lord suspended. Your Savior yields his breath. The Prince of Life from heaven

Himself has freely given To shame and blows and bitter death.

Your cords of love, my Savior, Bind me to you forever. I am no longer mine. To you I gladly tender

All that my life can render And all I have to you resign.

Your cross I’ll place before me; Its saving pow’r be o’er me, Wherever I may be; Your innocence revealing,

Your love and mercy sealing, The pledge of truth and constancy.

THE GOSPEL OF THE DAY Luke 24:44-53

44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51

While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

THE SENIOR CHOIR

“The Power of the Cross” Keith Getty and Stuart Townend Arrangement and Orchestration: Mark Hayes

Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013

O to see the dawn of the darkest day; Christ on the road to Calvary. Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then nailed to a cross of wood.

This the pow’r of the cross: Christ became sin for us. Took the blame, bore the wrath; We stand forgiven at the cross.

Now the daylight flees; Now the ground beneath quakes as its Maker bows His head. Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life, “Finished!” the vict’ry cry.

This the pow’r of the cross: Christ became sin for us. Took the blame, bore the wrath; We stand forgiven at the cross. This the pow’r of the cross: Christ was slain for us.

O to see my name written in the wounds, for through Your suff’ring I am free. Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live, won through Your selfless love!

This the pow’r of the cross: Son of God, slain for us. What a love, what a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross. What a love, what a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross
