COLLABORATIONS

Our long-term partnerships with organizations such

as CEFPI and NSPMA earn us the credibility that

school officials and design professionals expect when

designing schools. We work to meet and exceed

those expectations, while providing quality flooring to

pre-kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school

environments.

CEFPI The Council of Education Facility Planners International is

the primary advocate and resource for effective educational

facilities. This council serves those who use, plan, design,

construct, maintain, equip and operate educational

facilities. CEFPI is the advocate for excellence in student

learning environments.

NSPMAThe National School Plant Management Association was

formed in the interest of enhancing and promoting the

educational process. Its purpose is to facilitate the exchange

of information that improves school plant management,

maintenance and care through the promotion of acceptable

policies, standards and practices. In addition, NSPMA

promotes the professional advancement of school plant

management personnel.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Schools NextIn 1999, Tandus Centiva partnered with the Council of

Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) to help

create School Building Week. This collaboration allowed

us to highlight the role that environment plays in learning.

In 2005, we began the “School of the Future Design

Competition,” creating a platform for communication

between all those involved in maintaining and utilizing

the learning environment from students to staff, facility

managers to teachers.

PublicolorPublicolor is a youth development not-for-profit

whose gateway program empowers students through

commercial painting and an applied learning model

to transform their institutional looking schools into

warm, welcoming, student-centric environments. Other

programs involve students in planning and preparing

for college and careers, while teaching strong and

transferable work habits. The Summer Design Studio

teaches at-risk teens literacy and math through product

design. S.A.T. preparation and design classes are held on

Pratt Institutes’s campus so students can experience the

reality of college, while their afternoons are spent painting

under-resourced but vital neighborhood facilities. In 2014,

Tandus Centiva has committed to donate a percentage

of sales in education to help fund Publicolor’s Summer

Design Studio.

Utilizing a previously untapped waste stream, Tandus Centiva

developed ethos, a high-performance polymer recycled from

disposed windshields and safety glass. Tandus Centiva offers

ethos® Powerbond and ethos® modular.

Tandus Centiva’s ethos Modular is Cradle to Cradle

Certifiedcm Silver (v3). We are honored to have the first

American modular carpet tile to achieve this level of

certification.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITYTandus Centiva has been recycling vinyl-backed

flooring for more than 20 years in our own facility. Our

closed-loop recycling facility is the first of its kind in our

industry to receive third-party certification, granted by

SCS Global Services (SCS).

NO TESTINGNo MVER testing or RH testing required on Powerbond

Cushion installations using #54 Seam Weld or C-XL Water-

based Seam Sealer, as long as no evidence of free liquids or

moisture-stained concrete is present.
