When we arrive at university,many of us will havepreconceived ideas orstereotypes about differentpeople and cultures. However,it is important for us to beopen-minded and not to drawconclusions about people untilwe know all the facts. Below isa story a friend shared with merecently that highlights theimportance of being non-judgmental. It is a reminder forus all.

An old man was sitting with

his 25 year old son in the train.The train was about to leavethe station. All of thepassengers were settling downin their seats. As the trainstarted to move, the youngman seemed to be filled with a

lot of joy and curiosity. He wassitting on the window side. Heput one hand out of thewindow, feeling the passingwind. He shouted, "Papa,seeall the trees rushing by!"His father smiled and admiredhis son's feelings.

Beside the young man, acouple was sitting and listeningto the conversation betweenthe father and son. They felt alittle awkward because of thechildlike attitude of the 25 yearold. Suddenly, the young man

again shouted, "Papa, see thepond and the animals! Theclouds are moving so quicklywith the train! The couplewatched this young mansbehaviour in embarrassment.

It started raining, and some ofthe water drops touched theyoung mans hand. He wasfilled with joy, and closed hiseyes, shouting again, Papa itsraining, the waters sorefreshing! The couplecouldnt help themselves andasked the old man Why dontyou visit a doctor and gettreatment for your son?

The old man said Were justcoming from the hospital now,as only today, my son got hiseyesight for the first time in his

life.

The moral of the story, asposted by the writer, wasDont draw conclusions untilyou know all the facts.
