When production began in 1968, it was called Percy’s Purple Page, after the Co-op Secretary at the time Percy Glover. The original newsletter was created using a typewriter and stencil duplicator which gave the look of purple ink on white paper. It later became affectionately known as the Purple Passion Sheet. In November 2006, publishing duties were taken on by the Quairading Telecentre and thus the name was changed to Quairading Telecentre Newsletter. In 2008 the name changed once again to Quairading Qmunity Newsletter at the suggestion of a few readers. Now, in February 2017, with the newsletter so often still being referred to as the passion sheet we’re embracing our history and bringing it back! PARKER HOUSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Mrs Barbra Black has retired from this committee and is thanked and commended for her participation and dedication over many years, bringing wise and considered contributions to meetings and activities. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral service for the late Mr Clayton Travis Yarran, age 34, Son of Wayne (Oyzie), (deceased) and Lynette Yarran will be held on Friday 3rd February 2017 at 11am at the Quairading Town Hall. Any donations of food on the day will be muchly appreciated. To avoid losing your plates, please name them or use something disposable. COLLECT YOUR PLATES: Those who didn’t collect plates after Barb’s funeral, please pick them up from the CRC as soon as possible. LITTLE RAINMAKERS CHILD CARE CENTRE: Council has resolved to open the Little Rainmakers Child Care Centre a 4 th day per week, being a Friday, for a 6 month trial period. The first Friday the Centre will be open is Friday 3 rd February 2017. For all booking enquires please contact Judy Marsh at the Centre on 9645 0870 from the 24 th January. OPERA IN THE PARK: Due to lack of staff availability, the Quairading CRC will not be screening the Opera in the Park this Saturday 4th Feb 2017. Check your digital tv channels, you may be lucky enough to get it from home! CWA QUAIRADING: The second hand clothing and accessories shop will re open Saturday 4th February 2017 at 10:30am. We have boxes of jeans and dress trousers which will be priced for a quick sale. If you don’t wear jeans how about trying your hand at making a denim bag or quilt!? OFFICAL SWIMMING POOL OPENING: All members of the community are warmly welcomed to attend the opening of the refurbished Swimming Pool on Saturday 4 th February 2017 at 12 noon by the Honourable Mia Davies MLA, Minister of Sport and Local Member. RED CARD FOX SHOOT: There will be two fox shoots this year. The first is on 24th and 25th February with an official count at Chris Wells’ place at 12 noon on Sunday 25th February and a BBQ lunch. The second will be on 24th and 25th March with an official count at the Community Building on Sunday 26th March at 8.30am followed by the LCDC breakfast. It’s a world-wide street art project, pasting massive portraits in public places. The Quairading CRC organised Geoff Hall to snap a heap of incredible photos at last year’s Community Christmas Party, the Co-op have given us permission to use their external western wall, the photos are currently being edited and printed and on Friday 3rd March, the photo posters will be going up! If you’re available to volunteer an hour or two to help us prep, measure and paste, you’ll be rewarded with a delicious sausage sizzle and a cold drink! Please let us (the CRC) know if you’d like to be involved and we’ll create a roster for the day. SWIMMING POOL INFO: Opening Hours 12noon to 7pm Wednesday to Monday inclusive. Early Morning Lap Swim Group 6am to 7am Monday, Thursday and Fridays. Normal Gate Entry Fees Apply. Season Passes are now available from the Shire Administration Office. DO YOU REMEMBER: The Quairading Website has received an email enquiry asking for any information regarding a John Thomas Lloyd who worked as a farm hand in the Quairading area from 1925 to 1936. The sender is working on their family history and it would be great to be able to help. If you know anything could you please give the Quairading CRC a call on 9645 0096. Thanks in anticipation. DO YOU KNOW: Another enquiry via the Quairading website was someone wondering if anyone by the name of Louden or someone connected in some way to the family still living in the Quairading area? They are attempting to locate anyone related to a Mr. Louden, who enlisted at Quairading for the 2nd WW. Her brother has an object that may be of interest to descendants of Mr George Louden. Hope you can help. Please call the CRC. PIANO LESSONS FOR 2017: Piano lessons take place at QDHS on a Thursday during the school terms. It is recommended for your child to be Year 1 or older. If you or your child is interested in learning piano in 2017 please call Jennifer Tuinder on 0427376361 to reserve your spot. GUITAR/DRUM LESSONS FOR 2017: Guitar/Drum lessons take place at QDHS on a Thursday during the school terms. Your child must be in Year 5 or 10 years of age before they start. Currently all positions for 2017 are full however if you would like to put your child on the waiting list, contact Kylie Squiers on 0400766269. (those who already have their name on the waiting list please contact me to confirm). POST OFFICE BOX: There are some PO Boxes still available for rent at the Book Post! Keep your mail secure by letting us store it for you. Pick it up when it’s convenient to you. If you don’t live in an area that has mail delivery services you can also apply for a reduced rate on your annual rental fee. Chat to us about what options are available. COMMUNITY CAR: The Hospital Auxiliary Committee requires the assistance of a generous volunteer or volunteers (the job can be shared) to clean the community car approximately every 2 to 3 weeks.
