REFLECTION In today's Gospel, St. Luke, very deliberately, tells us, that after his Baptism, Jesus went back to Nazareth, to begin his work. As he stood up to read in the Synagogue, a passage from the prophet Isaiah was given to him - a passage about the coming of the Messiah-by which Jesus is announcing that he himself is the Messiah. "He has anointed me", is a way of saying "I am a King" And Jesus goes on to explain what we can expect of him. His words are directed to the materially poor, those in prison, the physically blind, the oppressed and the exploited. How do the words of Jesus reach us today? St. Paul tells us we are all members of one Body, each member interacting in a constant giving and receiving. Each receives the same respect, and the weakest receiving the greater attention. That is how the words of Jesus, in today's Gospel, become living realities. The Law was essential for dignity, human rights and freedom—but there is a new ingredient in what Jesus gives-corn passion-and that makes all the difference.

Psalm: Your words are spirit, Lord, and they are life.

Gospel Acclamation:

Alleluia, alleluia! The Lord has sent me to bring the good news to the poor,

to proclaim liberty to captives. Alleluia!

Communion Antiphon : Look toward the Lord and be radiant;

let your faces not be abashed

RETIRED PRIESTS' FUND - SPECIAL COLLECTION This weekend the annual Special Collection for the Retired Priests' Fund is being held. With your help, we can build up the Fund to meet the future needs of our sick and retired priests.

Special Envelopes are available for you to use. If you use weekly Offertory Envelopes, please can I ask that you write in your envelope number. If you do not have your Offertory Envelope with you, or you give to your Parish by means of a Standing Order, write in your name and home address. In this way, it will be possible to reclaim the tax on your donation if you have joined the Gift Aid scheme. A Leaflet about the Fund is also available which explains how to make a regular

donation to the Fund by Standing Order, or how you can make your donation by cheque. It also explains how to take advantage of Gift Aid to boost your donation to the Fund. I ask that you give as generously as you can to this very worthy cause and would also like to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support. With every blessing, +Mark

ALL SAINTS ALL SAINTS SUMMER FAIR We are calling a meeting just to set up a working committee to plan this year's Summer Fair. At this stage we don't need the people who want to volunteer to do stalls at this meeting, we need people who wish to be part of the Leader Team for the fair. Just give us 20 minutes of your time on Friday 29lh January at 7.00pm. This will give us a chance to pick a date and look at some ideas.

LADIES GROUP This group as we all know are no longer running but could we say a huge thank you to them. Last weekend they gave us a cheque for £1000 for our Roof Fund. Thank you to all the ladies in the parish who made this possible.

HELP NEEDED FOR RAINBOWS Rainbows are in desperate need of an adult helper. Can anybody volunteer an hour a week to lend a helping hand with crafts and playing games? No need to plan anything; just turn up on the night ready for some fun. Please contact fourthaonmrainbows(5)qmail.com. Thank you Jennie Woodhams

ALL SAINTS BIDDING PRAYERS Many thanks to everyone who signed up to contribute bidding prayers. The rota for January is: 24th Irene Patterson 31st The Moley family Please submit your contribution by the Friday before the Sunday either directly to the parish office or via email at [email protected]. A full list of all contributors from January through to March 2016 can be found on the noticeboard at the back of church and on the three parishes website.

RED MISSION BOXES There are a number of Red Mission Boxes at the back of the church waiting to be picked up. If usually have one of these boxes could we please ask you to take it home with you as you leave church.

LITTLE CHURCH Each week we are so thankful to have so many children attending "Little Church" and thank all helpers and parents involved. As you know space can be an issue so we do ask that your children not to bring their own toys into " Little Church", it also helps the children to become more involved in the reverence and activities provided without the distraction of their personal toys. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The Offertory Collection was £ 800.06 - Thanks for all once again for your giving and generosity.

ST MARGARET WARD

S.V.P. SUDAN BABY FEEDING APPEAL The S.V.P. would like to say a big thankyou to everybody who has supported our annual appeal to help our members in Sudan and South Sudan who continue to feed the starving babies and young children in another war ravaged area of the world. Our Primary School has again worked very hard to keep up their good work of caring for others. As a Parish and School we have sent £2000 to the appeal. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.

The Offertory Collection was £ 374.26 - Thanks for all once again for your giving and generosity.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES PARISH COUNCIL The Parish Council Meeting will take place this Tuesday 26th January 8pm after evening Mass. Can we please ask that all members to attend this meeting. Thank you

THE FUSE PARTINGTON Come to our Free Cinema! We put a film on every Friday, for parents and toddlers at 9.30am and adults at 2.30pm. Why not start the new with a resolution to relax, enjoy and indulge for one morning, at the end of a busy week. If you are a parent bring your child along and they can watch the film, sit on a bean bag, or play with toys. If you are an adult without a child, why not come and meet friends and enjoy a film, for free, on our big screen. The best thing about it is you don't have to worry about paying, like you would usually at a cinema. It is completely free. Refreshments and snacks are available to purchase, but much more reasonable than what you would pay at the Cinema. THE FUSE, Warburton Lane, Partington, M314BU

The Offertory Collection was £ 354.01 - Thanks for all once again for your giving and generosity.
