TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

1) Wisdom 7: 7-11 2) Hebrews 4: 12-13 3) Mark 10: 17-30 or 10: 17-27

FOCUS: The example of Jesus’ life and his teachings give us con-crete guidance on how we are to live, so we may come to share eter-nal life in heaven.

Jesus does not condemn the rich man in today’s Gospel. Rather, with a gaze of love and compassion, he instructs the rich man to let go of that which stands in the way of him receiving the gift of salvation, namely, his riches.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

The first reading from the Book of Wisdom speaks of how wisdom overshadows all the riches of the world. The second reading from the Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that being steeped in Scripture helps us to be open to God’s will for us. The Gospel tells of the rich man coming to Jesus and asking what he must do to inherit eternal life.

TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

In today’s Gospel, Jesus says: “Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then,

come follow me.”

Have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

Especially Carmen Ines Galarza, Maria Teresa Chavez, Margareth Rotundo, Rose Chaperon, Dorothy Pereira, Frank Burnside, Mary Pius, Baby Kyle Borresen, Luigi Lore, Marie Farrell, Ja-net Hanson, John Bauman, Fay De An-gelis, Samantha Parisi, Baby Mateo,

Baby Grayson, Margot Aquino, Cherly Montoya & Virginia Maldonado. Names will be published only for 2 weeks and after that will be removed unless notified by family. If the indi-vidual is still in need of prayers, the office would have to be notified to continue for an additional 2 weeks.

PAGE 7 DOMINGO XXVIII DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO DEL CICLO B.

Cf. Théo. L'Encyclopédie catholique pour tous. P.117
