“The Light is ON for you.”
Please come to the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Lent
For those wishing to take time away from the busyness of life and pray/reflect before the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle, the Church will be open every Monday evening during Lent from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. All are welcome.
Mondays in Lent 6:00—7:00 PM
March 5, 12, and 19
The Altar & Rosary Society invites all women of the parish to attend our March 7th meet-ing. We will meet in Father
Sammons Hall immediately following the 9:00 AM mass. Final preparations will be made for our Ha-lushki sale on the weekend of March 17th & 18th. Light refreshments will be served. A donation of non-perishable items for the Back Mountain Food Pantry would be appreciated.
The Altar & Rosary Society will be making and selling HOMEMADE HALUSHKI. The sale will be held in the vestibule after all masses on the weekend of March 17th and 18th...just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! This is a “first come- first serve” sale as limited quantities will be available. Thank you for supporting this important (and tasty) fund-raiser!
The Office for Parish Life/Family Life wishes to invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2018 to a diocesan Wedding Anni-versary Celebration on Sunday, June 10th. The event includes a 2:30 PM Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral fol-
lowed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be made through Fr. Jim before March 12.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Sincere thanks to the many hands and hearts that prepared and participated in our Parish Mission. Thanks to Father Paul McDonnell, O.S.J., for his incredible gift of preaching the love and mercy of God. Thanks to the Faith Formation Team for working out the many details of this wonderful accomplishment. Thanks to the Stewardship Committee for hosting each evening’s fellowship, and to the countless parishioners who baked cookies for the event. Thanks to our Choir, Liturgical Ministers, CCD Teachers, Sacristan, Skit Team and Children’s Mission Choir for enhancing our Mission with their time and talent. And thanks to the hundreds of parishioners and friends, who, by their attendance, made our Parish Mission a wonderful Lenten experience of “Finding God in our Busy World”.

PENNY WARS FOR THE POOR:
Our congregation is participating in the 19th Annual “Penny Wars for the Poor”, a char itable challenge to all local faith communities to see which congrega-tion can collect the most pennies. All proceeds will be donated to C.E.O. Proceeds will be used to help needy families with children, and disadvantaged senior citi-zens. We have 40 days and 40 nights to “pool our pen-nies”. A container in which to deposit your pennies will be located in the vestibule of the church. Let’s give our idle pennies a purpose and make every “red cent” count!
The Social Justice Committee will meet Monday, March 12 at 6:30 in the rectory meeting room. Please feel free to come and join our discussion.
Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors & Altar Servers:
The next liturgical schedule for May - August needs to be prepared and should be ready in April. Dear God,
As we begin this blessed season of repentance, renewal and grace, help us to fast from pessimism and feast on optimism. To fast from criticism and feast on praise. To fast from self-pity and feast on joy. As we journey to the cross of Jesus Christ, may we fast from bitterness and feast on forgiveness. Fast from idle gossip and feast on purposeful silence. Fast from jealousy and feast on love.
During these forty days of Lent, may we fast from discouragement and feast on hope. May we fast from complaining and feast on appreciation. And may we fast from selfishness and feast on service.
Dear God, as we turn away from sin and believe in the Gospel, help us to fast from fear and feast on faith. To fast from anger and feast on patience. To fast from self-concern and feast on compassion.
And finally Lord, when these forty days are over, may we be devoid of discontent and full of gratitude for all that our fasting and feasting has done. Amen.
GOD BLESS
