Welcome, newcomers Welcome, August Carol Omaand Tim OpaIf you think you see more and more people join- ing us for worship – even during the summer months – your eyes are not deceiving you. There indeed are! Some are coming from North Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, Golden Valley, Crystal, Columbia Heights, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Nordeast Minneapolis for our special weekend liturgies, like the KnightsMass with Archbishop Hebda or the recent Kateri Mass. And a few come back. Some have found out about us through our Fa- cebook page –www.facebook.com/ stbridgetnorthside which a staffer personally finances to have Facebook promote around the above areas. Some people come because they had earlier attended a funeral. Or at a funeral home, with St. Bridget clergy presiding. Some have followed staffers here from previous as- signments. Some come because they read about the parish in the newspaper or The Catho- lic Spirit. Almost all of them check out our website before coming, and like what they see: www.stbridgetnorthside.com (Please "like" and "share" our parish Facebook page with, and recommend our website to, all your friends. It's easy evangelization.) When you check it out, notice how the information is now frequently updated. Its an excellent resource for both current parishioners and potential parishion- ers. Two new worshippers actually became Catholic Christian – one being baptized, and both receiv- ing First Communion – because they witnessed you actually walking the walk. Not just talking the talk, with which they had had plenty of experi- ence with. This parish, one said, actually lives out Jesuscentral teachings in Matthew 25, the parable of the sheep and the goats. On Sun- day July 22, 2018, our parish family was honored to welcome as a candidate, August Carol Brin- kley, who begins her journey to full initiation through RCIA. A beautiful ritual of signing of the senses was celebrated at our St. Austin Cam- pus. August Carol, is Omato her Peltier grandchil- dren. Jesus calls us to be his disciples in many different ways. Most of us are baptized into the Church as babies. But some, like Oma and Opa, are called as adults, after checking out a number of faiths and churches. What compelled Oma to join our Faith? Again, you did. Your example did. Your authentic prac- tice of the Faith did. As well as Gods miracle in saving her grandson, Kayden. A St. Bridgets miracle from so many parishioners praying. It was beautiful to see August Carol, Kyle Jr. and Julie, together receiving our Lord in the Eucharist with their new family. The outpouring of prayer, love, concern, and generosity of our parish family -- as well as our parish's new friends throughout Minneapolis -- has brought the Peltiers hope. And more people into our pews. May we always be Christs light and bring hope to all we meet. Welcome, newcomers

Welcome, August Carol “Oma” and Tim “Opa”

If you think you see more and more people join-ing us for worship – even during the summer months – your eyes are not deceiving you. There indeed are! Some are coming from North Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, Golden Valley, Crystal, Columbia Heights, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Nordeast Minneapolis for our special weekend liturgies, like the Knights’ Mass with Archbishop Hebda or the recent Kateri Mass. And a few come back.

Some have found out about us through our Fa-cebook page –www.facebook.com/stbridgetnorthside – which a staffer personally finances to have Facebook promote around the above areas. Some people come because they had earlier attended a funeral. Or at a funeral home, with St. Bridget clergy presiding. Some have followed staffers here from previous as-signments. Some come because they read about the parish in the newspaper or The Catho-lic Spirit.

Almost all of them check out our website before coming, and like what they see: www.stbridgetnorthside.com (Please "like" and "share" our parish Facebook page with, and recommend our website to, all your friends. It's easy evangelization.) When you check it out, notice how the information is now frequently updated. It’s an excellent resource for both current parishioners and potential parishion-ers.

Two new worshippers actually became Catholic Christian – one being baptized, and both receiv-ing First Communion – because they witnessed

you actually walking the walk. Not just talking the talk, with which they had had plenty of experi-ence with. This parish, one said, actually lives out Jesus’ central teachings in Matthew 25, the parable of the sheep and the goats.

Six weeks earlier, Tim Brinkley (Kayden Peltier’s grandfather) was baptized at the First Commun-ion Mass for two of Kayden’s siblings; held at their home for Kayden-care reasons. On Sun-day July 22, 2018, our parish family was honored to welcome as a candidate, August Carol Brin-kley, who begins her journey to full initiation through RCIA. A beautiful ritual of signing of the senses was celebrated at our St. Austin Cam-pus.

August Carol, is “Oma” to her Peltier grandchil-dren. Jesus calls us to be his disciples in many different ways. Most of us are baptized into the Church as babies. But some, like Oma and Opa, are called as adults, after checking out a number of faiths and churches.

What compelled Oma to join our Faith? Again, you did. Your example did. Your authentic prac-tice of the Faith did. As well as God’s miracle in saving her grandson, Kayden. A St. Bridget’s miracle from so many parishioners praying. It was beautiful to see August Carol, Kyle Jr. and Julie, together receiving our Lord in the Eucharist … with their new family.

The outpouring of prayer, love, concern, and generosity of our parish family -- as well as our parish's new friends throughout Minneapolis -- has brought the Peltier’s hope. And more people into our pews.

May we always be Christ’s light and bring hope to all we meet. It just happens to be the best membership-building method.~ CeCe Ryan
