Why Go To Church

If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this!

If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it.

If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope!

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.

He wrote: "I've gone for 30 years now, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can't remember

a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time, the preachers and priests are wasting

theirs by giving sermons at all".

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column. Much to the delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone

wrote this clincher:

"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire

menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength

I needed to do my work.

BREWSTER

THANK YOU to everyone who gave to the Catholic Ministry Appeal. Our goal was $6,090.00 and we raised $5145.00. Thirty-one families participated and Sacred Heart thanks you for your contribution to the 2016 CMA. PARENTS, if you have not paid the Faith Formation tuition for your children, please do so. You can give it to Dawn Murphy or put it in the collection and mark it for Faith Formation Tuition. Thank You. MISSING: Does anyone have an extra electric roaster in your cupboard missing the inside pan? Is this roaster yours or did you take it by mistake? Sacred Heart is missing an electric roaster, but we do have the inside pan. Please check and return it to the church if it is not yours. Thanks! 2016 CHURCH SUPPORT statements are at the entrances of the church. Please pick yours up.

HERON LAKE

COFFEE & ROLLS will be served this morning after Mass. Our hosts are the Sam and Lori Henkels family. Join us for this time of fellowship and to welcome Fr. Arens back from his vacation.

MISSION QUILT SEWING will begin at 1:30PM on Tuesday, January 10th, at Steger Hall, weather permitting. All are invited and most welcome to participate! Can you make time to help sew for the less fortunate? IN THE SPIRIT OF GRATITUDE we wish to thank all who share their time and talent to make beautiful music---organists, vocalists, choir directors, and choir, also those who serve in the various roles of liturgy at Mass, and the environment committee and volunteers who do such an outstanding job creating the settings for the seasons of the church year, including our maintenance personnel. These people are committed to their tasks all year long and thus we applaud their efforts to make the Liturgy of the Mass a cause for great joy! You are all very much appreciated. REMINDER-PARENTS & STUDENTS: All classes of Faith Formation will resume on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. CATHOLIC ORDER OF FORESTERS’ annual TOM & JERRY refreshments will be served on Sunday, January 22nd, at 4:00PM in Steger Hall. Save the date and join in the fun!
