About our Homecoming Speaker…. Rev. Brad Greene

After graduating from Florida State University in 1995 with a degree in Mu-sic Education, Brad felt very strongly that God was calling and drawing him toward work in a local church. From that time until the present, Brad has served in the following capacities and locations: 3 years as Director of Mu-sic, Youth, and Education at Commerce First UMC; 4 years as the Youth Minister at Trinity UMC in Cartersville; 1 ½ years as Contemporary Worship Leader at Dallas First UMC; 7 years as Associate Pastor at Hillside UMC in Woodstock; and the last year as the new lead pastor at Arbor Pointe Church located between Jefferson and Braselton. The calling of God upon Brad’s life led him to attend Candler School of Theology at Emory University - he graduated with a Master’s of Divinity in 2005 - and ordination in the United Methodist Church in 2008. Brad met his wife, Erica Shea while at Florida State. They began dating in 1995 and were married in 1997 at Commerce First UMC. They have two children: Ian is 12 and will be entering the 7th Grade; Joy is 6 and will be in 1st Grade.

Hannah Circle will meet on June 18th for a Luncheon at Martha Sandford’s home.

Circle 5 will meet on June 18th at 7:00 pm.

Circle 3 will not meet during the month of June or July.

Love Offering for Lynn Gibson Lynn Gibson will be spending her last Sunday with us on June 9th. You may make a “Thank you Lynn” gift

by using one of the offering envelopes in worship or writing a check with “Lynn Gift” on the “for” line.

You may also bring your gift by the Church Office.

Thanks to everyone who made the cake auction a fantastic success!

Information about the Back-to-School Bash will be included in the July Newsletter!

A church work day is planned for June 1, 2013 at 8:00 am. There will be many jobs that will need to be done (big and small) to get the church

“spring cleaned” and shining for our busy month of June. We will host many people this summer with VBS and Homecoming, and we want all the “dust bunnies” gone! Thank you in advance for your participation!

Attention All Ladies: Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday, June 16th. As is our “honored tradition,” the ladies will

make up the Father’s Day choir. We will meet at 10:00 on the morning of June 16th to practice for the 11:00am service. PLEASE make plans to join the choir that day, ladies!

Father’s Day Tradition... All men are encouraged to wear their ugliest tie on Father’s Day!

We have had some real winners in the past! Start looking through the back of the closet

for that UGLY tie that you’ve been pretending you lost and plan to join in the fun on

Father’s Day.

Annual Conference Special Offering Each year at Annual Conference our Bishop asks each congregation in North Georgia to receive a

special offering. The greatest need of our six North Georgia Conference international “Bridges” mis-

sion partners is for assistance in leadership training. Our gifts to the Annual Conference Special Offering

will go toward providing training for clergy and laity in El Salvador, The Bahamas, Russia, the Philip-

pines, Kenya, and Portugal. We will receive this offering as our Holy Communion altar money on Sunday, June 2,

2013. In advance, thank you for your generosity.

Names and Addresses needed!

If you know of anyone that has attended CFUMC in the past, please submit their

names and addresses ASAP so that we can invite them to the homecoming

service and church luncheon. Please give all names and addresses to Kim Savage.

On Sunday, June 30 at the 11:00am worship time, we will have our patriotic service. We encourage everyone to come with a special invitation to veterans.

has been a joy to serve our Lord and Savior with you. Know I will miss

you all tremendously and will continue to pray for God’s best blessings

on this congregation in the days and weeks ahead.
