Woman charged with

carrying gun, drugsA West Monroe woman was

arrested earlier this week afterOuachita Parish sheriff ’sdeputies found a handgunand suspected methampheta-mine in her car.

Jada Winter Roye, 27, of 104Crossvine Drive, Apt. 27, WestMonroe, was arrested bydeputies on charges of posses-sion of a controlled substanceand illegal carrying of aweapon in the presence ofnarcotics, stated the July 23arrest affidavit.

Deputies noticed a silverHyundai Sonata cross the fogline with the front tires whiledriving on North 4th Street.Deputies stopped the vehicle

and noticed thedriver, identi-fied as Roye, tobe acting overlynervous.

D e p u t i e sfound a Titan.25 caliberhandgun and a

clear, plastic bag containingsuspect methamphetamineinside the vehicle. Deputiessearched Roye and found an-other clear, plastic bag con-taining suspected meth,according to the report.

Roye said the suspectedmethamphetamine was forher personal use. Roye saidthe handgun belonged to herfather.

Roye was booked into Oua-chita Correctional Center.

Monroe man accused

of battering girlfriendA Monroe man was arrested

earlier this week after his girl-friend claimed the suspectstopped her from leaving thehouse and grabbed her by thethroat.

Corey Michael McDonald,26, of 106 Poplar St., Monroe,was arrested by Monroe po-lice officers on a domesticabuse battery charge, statedthe July 23 arrest affidavit.The complainant told officersshe and her live-in boyfriendof five years, McDonald, gotinto an argument with eachother.

The complainant said shetried to leave the residence,but McDonald blocked the

door. The com-plainant saidshe kicked awindow andshouted tofriend who wasoutside forhelp. The com-plainant said

McDonald grabbed her by theneck and pushed her againstsome cabinets.

Officers noticed injurieswhich corresponded to detailsin the complainant’s story.McDonald denied the accusa-tions made against him.

McDonald was booked intoOuachita Correctional Center.
