The One Organization Every U.S. Submariner Should Know (but doesn’t)

Having served on submarines, you would think we would know all there is to know about them. After all, we committed ourselves to our qualification process to earn our insignia “dolphins” pin. Probably the least known sub related organization out there is the Submarine Industrial Base Council (SIBC), visit their website and join (free): http://www.submarinesuppliers.org/

“The Submarine Industrial Base Council represents the more than 5,000 businesses across all 50 states that make up the nation’s submarine industrial base. Our mission is to educate policymakers and the public on the need to preserve the strength of the U.S. submarine force and promote the value of the submarine industrial base as a vital part of our national security structure.”

We submariners are a curious bunch. After recruiting many submariners, I know firsthand that we know so little about the SIBC member companies. A new LinkedIn Group has been formed to merge these two very important communities together. If you’re a U.S. Submarine Veteran or a SIBC member company, then you are welcomed to join “U.S. Submariners & Submarine Industrial Supplier Network.”

This LinkedIn Group seeks to facilitate the networking and sharing of ideas and opportunities for U.S. Submarine Veterans to join with companies that comprise the Submarine Industrial Base Council (SIBC).

Companies are encouraged to promote their sub related products and career opportunities so we can learn more about them, where they're located, and how to apply for the positions. Sub related product promotions will help us all learn more about the Submarine Industrial Base and broaden our knowledge, understanding, and appreciation. The submarine community and the SIBC member companies have many high level hiring managers who would love to see your resume and possibly give feedback. Just like promoting submarine products, this group is designed to promote submarine veteran job seekers. I can think of no better job candidates for any of the SIBC member companies.
