Pitfalls to avoid?
• Be aware of the implications of what you have committed to – “100% of our profits fund water pumps in Africa”
• Think about your capital structure
• Work out how you are going to invest in growth
• The sector is risk averse but sometimes you will need to take a risk
• People are unfamiliar with “social enterprise” – Have a really clear story
• Social enterprise attracts opportunities – Turn them down unless they materially add value.
