Starting at: The National Trust centre at Fyne Court, Broomfield.
OS map ref: ST 223 321. Drive up onto the Quantocks via Kingston St
Mary up Buncombe Hill, turn right at the top and follow the signposts to Fyne
Court about a mile along this road. There are toilets and a tea room at Fyne
Court but best to check on their website whether they are open at this time.
Walk start time:. 10.50am
Rendezvous time: 11.40am
Total walk time: 7 hours 10mins.
Park in the Fyne Court car park as shown above. Have a look round
beforehand if you have time, the grounds are lovely. Proceed up the track you
came in by car, and then turn right at the exit.
Take the next right at the signpost shown below to Enmore and Spaxton. Keep
left on the following bend and then almost immediately afterwards you’ll see
a path (restricted byway) leading downhill to your left as shown below right.
About 10mins later, take the right fork as shown below (with the Macmillan
Way sign).
There are some good rural views.
At the valley bottom you need to cross this stream beside a farm and then
walk up to the road shown above. Go straight over (caution fast road) and
head up the path almost opposite with the marker post.
This path is steep and dark, but eventually you emerge onto a small road as
shown above. Go straight on (left) and follow this road until you see Ivyton
Farm as shown below right.
Your rendezvous point is at the farm. The Trail turns up hill from the farm as
shown below.
