17:00 - 18:00 Consensus debate – Is Supramicrosurgery the new frontier in Microsurgery
Dear Colleague
The world of microsurgery is evolving fast. Our knowledge of the microvascular and lymphatic anatomy of the skin is now more accurate and new techniques have evolved to treat conditions that previously seemed intractable. Innovative appro-aches to complex and challenging problems are being developed with the ultimate goal of improving outcome and reducing patient morbidity.
Novel imaging technologies are providing us with clearer details of the microvascular tree and revealing the microvascular patterns within aps. The question is, will these new tools enable us to design ultra-safe aps? Other developments such as more powerful microscopes and extremely ne instruments now allow us to attempt microanastomosis of smaller vessels than was hitherto possible. All we need is enthusiasm and motivation to meet the challenge.
An increasing number of surgeons in Europe and Asia are eager to learn these new supramicrosurgery techniques, seeing new possibilities and applications in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
We hope that you will join us in the beautiful and relaxing city of Barcelona and participate in this 1st European Meeting on Supramicrosurgery.
