THE FACTORY

The Factory was the name of Andy Warhol’s NYC studio (1962-1984)

The original Factory was referred to as the Silver Factory as it was decorated with tin foil, silver paint, broken mirrors

Warhol produced: shoes, films, sculptures, commissioned work, silkscreen portraits

The Factory was a place where artists, socialites, musicians, writers, people in the film industry, etc. would hang out and put together legendary parties and collaborations

By using the silkscreen process Warhol could mass-produce images which he likened to the mass-production of consumer goods
