Home Delivered Meals is an option available

for seniors unable to prepare meals or join us at

the Center for lunch. Recipients must be home-

bound, at least 60, and live in Washtenaw

We have enjoyed a bountiful harvest season thanks to our

senior volunteers. Potatoes and onions were especially

plentiful and members will have a chance to enjoy them in

the senior lunch program! Let us know if you are interested

in being a garden volunteer, it’s a great way to enjoy the

outdoors and meet new people!

Our Senior Nutrition Program is supported by Area Agency on Aging 1B and the Washtenaw County Office of Community &

Economic Development in partnership with Chelsea School District.

Notes From the Staff

Many thanks to our volunteers who helped us

roll out the MySeniorCenter membership cards

and sign in process. As many members are

finding out, it’s a very simple process to check-

in for the day, and it’s even faster if you have

your new membership cards with barcode! If

your membership is current/paid, be sure to stop

by the office and pick up your card or renew

your membership so you can continue to support

the Center Every visit counts, so be sure to

sign in every day!

We are excited to an-

nounce that we have

hired Annie Lavergne as

the new Program Manag-

er in Grass Lake. She

will be onsite at the

Grass Lake Senior

Center to help support

growth and sustainability

in this next phase of our successful partnership

with the Grass Lake community. This also

means that Jennifer Smith, who helped launch

programs in Grass Lake, will be back in Chelsea

full-time! This staffing change will help us con-

tinue to grow and strengthen both senior centers.

Chelsea and Grass Lake Senior Centers Wish List

Newsletter Group

Join our group of dedicated volunteers who gather each

month to fold and label our newsletter in preparation for

mailing. Volunteers arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.

and are usually finished by 10:30 a.m. We mail about

600 newsletters each month and it would not be possi-

ble without their help.

Enhance Fitness

Enhance Fitness is a group exercise program that helps

older adults at all levels of fitness become more active,

energized, and able to maintain their independence.

Each hour class focuses on dynamic cardiovascular exer-

cise, strength training, balance, and flexibility. All are

proven to increase strength, boost activity levels and

elevate mood.

Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Fun was had by all at Senior Fun Night. Participants

enjoyed trivia, line dancing, ukulele, euchre, dinner,

enhance fitness, and prizes. Thanks Chelsea District

Enjoy a hot lunch and great company at noon each

Tuesday and Thursday at the Grass Lake Senior Center

for a suggested donation of $2.50. Call to order your

lunch 24 hours in advance at 517.522.8466.

We are able to provide you with low cost, nutritionally

balanced, tasty lunches thanks to a partnership with the

Jackson County Department on Aging.

The Grass Lake Senior Center is a satellite of the Chelsea Senior Center which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The Grass Lake Center is

wholly funded by community grants and donations. Your $25 annual membership fee and occasional participation fees support the Grass Lake

Senior Focused Exercise: Work out at your own

pace with our certified instructor who will show differ-

ent options for varying impact levels.

Thanks to funding from St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea we are

able to offer exercise twice a week for a suggested donation

of $1.

Sewing: Join a fun group of seamstresses who meet

each week to make dresses and dolls and other items to

donate to under-privileged children around the world.

Mah Jongg: Come learn to play and/or play. The

Center has a Mah Jongg set on hand, so come try it out.

Line Dancing: Join Sally Shock for beginner line

dancing each Tuesday afternoon. Drop ins wel-

come. $3 per class.

Wii Bowling: Play standing or sitting and we have

many experts on hand who will patiently teach you

what you need to know.

Ping Pong: With 2 tables set up, you’ll be able to play

as much or as little as you want. There are always

people ready to play.

Quilting: Bring your latest project and enjoy quilting

and chatting and sharing ideas.

Game Night: Looking for a Wednesday night out?
