We started the afternoon with the children singing in the national event “Count Us In” where schools right across Australia learn a song and sing together on the internet. The song this year was titled “Let us play” and while it was written specially for the event, it was based on the beautiful traditional song “Pachelbel's Canon.” We then had time in each of the classrooms where children were able to show their grandparents what they do throughout their school day. For lunch the children pre- pared a Quiche that they had made in our school nutrition program “Plot to Plate.” The last session was very entertaining for both the staff, students and our visitors. Katey Allwell from the Central Northern Library demonstrated how a 3D printer works and introduced us to the libraries new acquisition NAO a fully functional robot. It was NAOs first excursion out of Tamworth so we were very privileged to meet this amazing android. Eve Porter even got to take NAO for a walk which he replied “I feel that we explored the world together”. It was an exciting experience, with lots of questions from the students and Grandparents. Special thanks to Mrs Gray for organising the last session. At Wallabadah P.S. we place great importance on the value of Grandparents and many assist our students every day with maths and reading groups. Grandparents are like beautiful shady Eucalypt trees. They are always there to offer their cool shade to the next generation. They have all the love, support and warmth of the world stored within them, and it’s this unconditional warmth and infinite love which creates a special bond between the two generations.

“Excellence in Learning”

Term 4, Week 4 ~ 4 November 2016

Christopher Jackson Small School “BIG” Opportunities!

Principal

What a wonderful afternoon we had yesterday!!!!

For those of you who may not have known, yesterday was a special day for our grandparents. We started the afternoon with the children singing in the national event “Count Us In” where schools right across Australia learn a song and sing together on the internet. The song this year was titled “Let us play” and while it was written specially for the event, it was based on the beautiful traditional song “Pachelbel's Canon.” We then had time in each of the classrooms where children were able to show their

grandparents what they do throughout their school day. For lunch the children pre-

pared a Quiche that they had made in our school nutrition program “Plot to Plate.”

The last session was very entertaining for both the staff, students and our visitors.

Katey Allwell from the Central Northern Library demonstrated how a 3D printer works

and introduced us to the libraries new acquisition NAO a fully functional robot. It was

NAOs first excursion out of Tamworth so we were very privileged to meet this amazing

android. Eve Porter even got to take NAO for a walk which he replied “I feel that we

explored the world together”. It was an exciting experience, with lots of questions

from the students and Grandparents. Special thanks to Mrs Gray for organising the last

session.

At Wallabadah P.S. we place great importance on the value of Grandparents and many

assist our students every day with maths and reading groups. Grandparents are like

beautiful shady Eucalypt trees. They are always there to offer their cool shade to the

next generation. They have all the love, support and warmth of the world stored

within them, and it’s this unconditional warmth and infinite love which creates a

special bond between the two generations.

Lunch Orders

Thank you to Karen Frost for making the lunches this week. Nancy Dent

will be making the lunches on Monday 7 November 2016.

Canberra Excursion - PACER Rebate

Students from our school have recently undertaken an education

tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity

to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on

Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being

able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To

assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is

contributing funding of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education

Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon

completion of the excursion.

When calculating costs per student to participate in the excursion this PACER rebate

was passed onto each participating student.
