We will be going to lunch on the river to Buzzard Billy’s on the 2nd of September. We will be leaving from the Village lobby at 10:45 a.m. and residents need to sign up at the activity table.

When you sign up that gives us a correct number count when we call and make the reservations.

We will also be going to eat at the Summer Palace restaurant in Hewitt on the 23rd of September. We will be leaving at 10:45 a.m. for this trip also. Summer Palace is a buffet style restaurant with a wide range of items to choose from.

Grab a friend, join us and let’s have some fun going out to lunch.

Let’s All GoOut to Lunch!

Regarded as one of the most versatile actresses of stage, screen and television, Anne received one Oscar, two Tony’s, and two Emmy awards during her career that lasted over five decades.

She was born Anna Maria Louisa Italiano on September 17, 1931 in the Bronx. Her mother encouraged her upon graduation from high school to enroll in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Her movie career began in 1952 when she was offered a contract with 20th Century Fox. In 1958 she made her Broadway debut in Two for the Seesaw opposite Henry

Fonda. In 1959 she appeared in The Miracle Worker in one of her most outstanding roles, that of Anne Sullivan.

In 1964 Anne married her second husband, Mel Brooks. They had one son, Maximilian, born in 1972, and their marriage lasted until her death on June 6, 2005, at age 73. She is survived by her husband, son, a grandson, two sisters, and her mother, who lived on to the age of 102. Anne is buried in Kenisco Cemetery in Valhalla, New York, close to her parents. A marble monument depicting a weeping angel sits above her grave.

On Saturday September 10th at 2:00 p.m. there will be a concert in the Village Lobby presented by Mu Phi Epsilon of Baylor. This is a group of musicians who play a variety of instruments and

perform an array of musical pieces. If you haven’t heard them before this would be a good time to come.

Due to the fact the Baylor performance will be a 2:00

p.m., the St. Elizabeth Bingo will be changed to 1:00 p.m. on the balcony instead of 1:30 so St. Elizabeth residents may attend the concert.

10:30 am - 11am

Several residents from the village went to the opening of the movie “The Help” on Wednesday August 10th traveling in high style in our new van. The book has been passed around The Village for several weeks now and everyone who read it and went to see the movie was very pleased with how it was presented. If you haven’t seen the movie, it is one that we would recommend you see even though most critics on television portray it as mediocre viewing. Be prepared to laugh and clap and it might be a good idea to take some tissues with you as well.

New Wheels - Let’s Go!With a lot of help from Sister Mary T. and Providence, we were able to purchase a new 15-passenger van (pictured on the right). We are planning several trips which include a Texas Ranger’s game, Oklahoma Casino trip, a Fredericksburg Drive, as well as other adventures. We are asking residents to suggest future trips that you would like to take. Please give suggestions to Rheadene, Sharon or David. Remember, Texas has over 3000 miles of Interstate Highways. Let’s use some of them.

“Hat Show” is Big Success at Providence ParkThe Village dining room was packed on Tuesday August 9th for our annual hat show produced and directed by Claire Masters. Our models included:

Mryle Gilmore & Bobby McKethan of St. Elizabeth Place; Betty Crocket, Betty Marable, Betty Warren, Virginia Lewis of The Village; Rheadene Weber (Resident Relations Director); and Genita Dunlap (Housekeeping Supervisor).

Everyone did a great job and the show was a huge success.
