Digital Story Jasmine’s Digital Story My name

is Jasmine Ashley Barnes. I am the

youngest of two children and live

with my mother on the south side

of Chicago. I attended Parkside

Academy for grade school where I

graduated with honors and I then

furthered my education Kenwood

Academy High School where I

graduated with a 3.8 G.P.A. I have

participated in many activities such

as scholarly clubs, band, choir, and

I have been on an all-star cheer

leading team for most of my life. At

this time, I am working with the NTRC

iCamp program at the Parkways

Activity Center. There I am learning

how to create meaningful media.

At the end of the summer, I will be

going off to school at the University

of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. I’m

still undecided about what I want

to major in, but I think I am heading

towards communications. With

that in mind, the iCamp program

will really come in handy. There

I am learning how to work with

everything from video cameras to

cropping music on the computer

and everything in between. When

I’m not working or at school, I am

with my friends having a great time. I

love going out having fun and I love

being surrounded by loved ones.

I am a very outgoing person and I

love trying new things. I think my

optimistic attitude will get me very

far and help me to be very successful.

1. AN AVERAGE YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE WHO’S INSPIRATION IS TO LEARN AND BECOME A GRAPHICS DESIGNER. A WONDERER WHO SEARCHES FOR NEW EXPERIENCES. 2. TO ACHIEVE THE STATUS OF A MAN, AND TO BE A MOTIVATION TO OTHERS, AS THEY HAVE BEEN TO ME. PLEASE/IMPRESS THOSE I LOOK UP TO, TO SHOW THEIR EFFORTS AND TEACHINGS DIDN’T GO IN VAIN

1. My status in society is I am a young woman who is getting out of the hood. I graduated from high school and I’m on my way to college. I am an example to younger children who think that all there is do is sell drugs. I am a scholar, a leader. I am somebody who is going to make it. My status is decided by me. 2. This is important because if you don’t believe in yourself, others won’t believe in you or they won’t get the chance to see how successful you really can be. Confidence is key, if you don’t have it you won’t be able to do anything including becoming successful. Believe in success. Success is important. It’s important to believe in myself. 3. I would say that they have raised me to be a smart & intelligent young woman. I would say that I want things in life and I will use the skills they taught me to get me where I need and want to be. I am going to make it and I will be successful. 4. I was taught to not to keep my guard up about everything because that’s a good way to miss out on great opportunities. I was taught be open with my feelings, opinions and things that I want because a closed mouth doesn’t get fed.

Brittany WysingerWRITING CREW

1. My status in society is to make something of myself and graduate out of college. My environment and my mom helping all the way there, decides my status. 2. Because if you believe you will achieve. You have to believe in yourself first. 3. I would like to tell them I am always aiming for my goals in life and I try to be a positive person in everything that I do. Also being the best I could be. 4. Sometimes you are taught to show emotion because if I don’t and let all your anger in or whatever all the time then it’s all gone build up and you gone explode. So if you’re sad I feel like you should show or tell someone else. It can help you because that person might have been through it already.

This is an introduction of what the iCAMP 2009 Program @ The Parkways does at the beginning of their work session everyday. The iCAMP had to answer 4 questions of what was asked by Instructor John Lester. Here are the answers that were given.

decides your status?

Question 2.Why is it important for you to believe

your sucessful?

Question 3.What if anything would you like to say to

your parents about who you are?

Question 4.Why, Why Not are you taught at a earage

1. My status in society is to do whatever I need to be doing good in life. To have a clean environment, go to school, and finish school. 2. It’s important for me to believe I’m successful because I get more self confidence. You achieve more when you think you can do more. 3. If anything I’ll want to tell my parents how smart I am and most of all who I am. They’ll think very much of me when I’m done and I’ll tell them the who you are poem we did when we 1st started working.

1. My status is being myself and having fun. Also staying in school and going to the NBA.

2. It is important for me to believe that I’m successful because if I’m not successful I will be nothing in life.

3. I would like to tell her that I am a nice, handsome, young man who is looking forward to life and ready to go to highschool and be in the NBA. That’s what I would tell my mother.

4. I would have this anger inside of me. Then I would take it out on someone else who didn’t do anything to me.

1. My status is an African American, Sophomore high school student who is below the poverty line. The people around us such as our family and friends decides some of our status, but in the long run you hold the decisions. 2. To have success shows that you have beaten the odds against yourself. You have to work hard to get where you are. Success is a triumph. To want to be successful is to want to come out of the chaos.

3. I wish to I was taller, I wish I was born into a wealthy family, I wish that there was not as many problems in our life, and how do I become a better man?

4. It may make you look like a punk. It seems as if to show emotion, is not to be a complete man. I myself do not cry because I have never remembered my father crying.

It all started when I was born be-

ing the youngest of 2 kids I felt as

if I were the only child, because my

siblings were grown and didn’t live in

the same house as I any more. I grew

up alone playing by myself I dreamed

of a sister my age. As I got older I met

someone that was just like the sister I

never had my best friend keyla felds.

Me being the only child I was

spoiled by both parents and most

of the time I got away with stuff. At

first people though I was a spoiled

brat that was stuck up and conceited

that’s what led to all my fights in 7th

grade but once you get to know me

im a pretty funny down too earth

person that Luvs to have fun.

My mommy calls me her little

drama queen since I was five, I had

a dream to be on the TV screen I just

would love to see myself at the mov-

ies. But along with that I love acting

its fun and it’s also a way for me to

express myself. When I was little I

loved to dress up like drunken ladies

or Harriet Tubman or something like

that. Kids called me the teachers

pet because I loved helping and got

straight a’s and every school play I

starred in the lead role.

People say im stuck up and bossy

because I love myself and no one can

stop me for that. Maybe sometimes I

do think im the prettiest thing in the

world but I mean very well, and that

my digital story.

Healthy foods are primarily

used to describe foods

that are beneficiary to

your health. This includes

food such as fruits-apples,

oranges, mangos, bananas

etc. Others such as alfalfa

sprouts, wheat germ and

yogurt are essential to this, as

well as natural/organic

foods. Although it may

sound nice, America

has become known as

the “Fast food Nation”.

The name is self-

explanatory, and shows

how tempting greasy

food is. Based upon

statistic: everyday, one out

of four Americans eats fast

food. That means that for

every three healthy people,

there is one in danger. This is

because fast food places tend

to be the cheapest option

out of all the restaurants, but

not the healthiest. See, the

healthy foods contain enough

calories, sodium and fat to

last for an entire day! Being

mindful of the outcomes

of the decisions consumers

make and eat, are the last

thing on their mind. So we

have provided a chart to open

the eyes of all you fast food

people.

Though there are risk and

consequences that follow,

enjoying your food, you

shouldn’t be scared. With

that, shouldn’t put a strain

on how thin you have to be,

staying up on nutrition facts,

or depriving yourself of the

one you love/like. Instead,

you should be focused upon

preserving energy, and

remaining as healthy as

possible. This can be done

with the basics knowledge of

nutrition, mental preparation,

and incorporating a

system that works for

you. Such as the will to

withstand the temptation

to smash Harold’s Chicken,

or Sharks for instance.

The knowledge to know

what to eat in order to

prevent obesity and heart

problems. Just drink more

water, stay active, and limit

sugar foods (Kool-aid may

be an exception), and salty

foods. Keep at this, and you’ll

Shhhh don’t tell nobody but did you know Chante’ and Iman is dating... betcha didn’t know

lol. It all started on July 2, 2009 when Iman started having a con-versation with Chante because he liked her.. So after a while they just hooked up. Also on July 23,2009 we all went on our usual Thursday trip and Keri and Kendall started talking to each other.. And I’m not just talking about a regular conver-sation if you know what I mean, so

if you ask me I think they like each other lol but again you didn’t hear this from me... Awww yeah!!! Guess who else is supposed to be talk in!!! Darien and Brandon.. You’re prob-ably thinking OMG rite, yea I know.. Yep it all started on the same day Keri and Kendall got together.

Who will get Michael Jackson’s kids? While Michael Jackson’s mom, Katherine Jackson continues to fend off Debbie Rowe over the issue of custody for the late King of Pope’s kids, it’s Michael’s sister Janet Jackson who has emerged in the eyes of many as the favored caregiver for the three children. They really enjoy her company and wants her to become the primary caregiver for her niece and nephews.

The Associated Press reports that Mi-chael Jackson’s doctor administered the powerful drug that authorities say killed him.Jackson regularly received the anes-thetic propofol to go to sleep. The official told the AP that Jackson’s physician, Con-rad Murray of Houston, gave the star the drug the last night of his life. Murray was with Jackson when he died June 25. Po-lice are investigating Murray for possible manslaughter charges. His lawyer has said Murray did not prescribe or administer any-thing that should have killed Jackson.

Police believe Dr. Conrad Murray admin-istered Propofol to Michael Jackson -- the drug that killed him. There’s a reason police believe it. Dr. Murray told them. Two days after Jackson’s death, Dr. Murray told LAPD detectives he administered Propofol to the singer hours before he died ... this, accord-ing to multiple law enforcement sources. We’re told Dr. Murray gave Jackson an IV drip of the powerful anesthesia.

Police believe Dr. Murray simply wasn’t paying attention when the singer’s heart stopped beating.Authorities believe Dr. Murray may have actually fallen asleep dur-ing the time the drug was administered

and may have awakened to find Jackson al-ready dead from heart failure. An IV drip of Propofol allows a constant, steady infusion of the drug for a period of time determined by the person administering it. It is consid-ered reckless in the medical community for a doctor to administer an IV drip of Propo-fol without the patient being monitored by an EKG, which sounds an alarm when the patients pulse drops too low. No EKG was found in the house.

Jennifer Hudson’s pregnancy.

Jennifer Hudson and her fiance’, David Otunga, have denied the baby rumors for weeks, but a close friend shared the happy news, and there was even a baby shower over the weekend.Hudson is engaged to former reality TV star David Otunga, a grad-uate of Harvard Law School who appeared on “I Love New York 2” and is currently pur-suing a career as a pro wrestler.

Lauren London(Nu-Nu) and Nivea’s pregnancy. Lauren London is currently 6 months pregnant and is having a baby by none other than Lil Wayne but she’s not the only one... Singer Nivea is pregnant by Lil Wayne also and they are supposedly getting married in a few months.Lauren London pregnant by rapper Lil Wayne and he doesnt want anything to do with her. CELEBRITY GOSSIP & RUMORSNEWS: Nivea Pregnant by Lil Wayne and

Engaged? Chris Brown’s Ex says Rihanna Started the Fight, Tiny Comments on Ru-mors of Rihanna and T.I.

Janet Jackson and her boyfriend of sev-en years, producer and rapper, Jermaine Dupri, have recently called it quits.

The unlikely pair has reportedly split due to differences in their lifestyles.

Janet Jackson is a more private per-son who does not enjoy partying, while Jermaine Dupri’s lifestyle understandably consists of constant networking (partying) and being in the midst of what his hot and current in the music industry.

Janet is reportedly having a hard time coping with the break-up, coupled with the passing of her legendary older brother, Michael Jackson. However, she is report-edly making her niece and nephews, Paris, Prince Michael, and Blanket, her priority - as they all try to cope with their tragic loss.

There is not a doubt that Ms. Jackson will remain a pillar in the Jackson family.

With Jennifer Hudson being engaged to David Otunga, we would have never believe that they would hook up because they seem like two totally different peo-ple. We also believe that she would be a very caring and loving mother and wife. We would have never thought that Lau-ren London would get pregnant by Lil Wayne or that she and Nivea would get pregnant by Lil Wayne at the same time. It’s not hard to believe that Lil Wayne chose Nivea instead dolobore do ea feu faccum quam vel il utpatem exerosto dolore vendre commodolore digna aut at irit lam, quisi exero el euisl ut adit prat wisi. Nostrud dolore delestie faci te del-enit, verit aut ut endre dolobor illandi-onsed tet lu. of Lauren London because they have history together and seem like a really good couple.

It’s really surprising to us that Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri split up be-cause they were together for a very long time. We think that eventually they may end up getting back together. We think that it is so crazy that Chris Tucker owes so much money in back-taxes. He has money so I don’t see what was the prob-lem with pay:ing taxes like everyone else.

My name is Shenitha “Teala” Jackson and I’m going to tell u about myself well I’m 19 years old an experienced a lot in my 19 years. I attended elementary school at Parkside`Academy an I graduated with honors out of 8th grade. After that I attended Kenwood Academy for High school an learned a lot from just attending that high school.

I learned how to be responsible an I matured as a young lady. At Kenwood u had a lot of freedom an it was up to what u did with it we had off campus lunch an it was up to u to come back to the school because I now I had times where I was just ready to go home but I had to suck it up an go to school. I had good times and hard time but through it all it helps me become that great person that I am today.

I am a smart young lady who is determined for success. I feel like I can overcome any obstacle in life as long as I have God and my family I can do all things. I’m going into my second year of college and expecting an im just eager for the future. I major in grammar school education

I choose that major because I knew since I was seven that I wanted to work with kids or just youth period because if u know it or not they are our future an at the age of seven I became a auntie an ever since that day I had a lot of responsibilities as an auntie I had to things that a normal seven year old didn’t have to do. I had to do things like baby sit, make bottles, pick her up from daycare after I get out of school. I know that life is hard an you will go through ups and downs but I know for the most part I will have a great an successful life.

Effective July 24, 2009, the federal minimum wage Increases to $7.25 per hour. This change reflects the Third and final federal minimum wage increase as Amended under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Many state wage laws will also update at this time. Workers with disabilities paid at special minimum Wages are paid less than the basic hourly rates statedIn an SCA wage determination and less than the FLSA Minimum wage of $5.85 per hour beginning July 24, 2007, $6.55 per hour beginning July 24, 2008, and$7.25 per hour beginning July 24, 2009. Chicago has the highest prices in the U.S. for gas. The U.S. price of gasoline fell about 7 cents a gallon during the past two weeks to $2.49, for a gallon of regular unleaded. The average price for a gallon of mid-grade was $2.62. Premium was at $2.74.The lowest price is found in Arizona at $ 1.99 a gallon. Jackson, Miss., Had the lowest average price, $2.22 for a gallon for regular unleaded. Honolulu was the highest at $3.03. SwaggapinionI feel that it is great that minimum wage is going up because it is a recession and people need money to survive. Especially the people that can’t get a job anywhere else they really need the money. I’m pretty upset that gas is going up because there is no reason for gas to cost as much as it does. Especially now that we’re in a recession where do people expect for the money to come from. I feel that before President Bush left he messed up the economy by just using money and buying oil that we didn’t need. People can save money to by gas by trying to go to places that you don’t have to pay for or that doesn’t cost that much money. - Chante’ Williams I feel like the economy is bad and someone need to fix it. I feel like this because when I ask my mom to take me somewhere she always say no because she either don’t have gas for the car. Speaking of gas, gas is very expensive and I feel like it went down but then it goes back up and it need to stay low. Well I guess I just have to be patient because Obama is going to fix it but he cant fix it as soon as you want him to. Also I feel like George Bush didn’t do anything but mess the economy and now Obama have to fix up 8th years of bad economy and its going to take Obama a while to fix it.- Brittany Wysinger

are said to be put into place to also provide the feature. Although, this will be even more risk taking being that notebooks are already portable, and would raise the question, “why”? Only time will tell, being that the new addition is

only a PREVIEW of what could come.

What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming? Whose

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave? Lift every voice

1992Halliburton subsidiary Brown & Root is paid

$9 million by the pentagon [under Cheney’s direction as sectary of defense] to produce a classified report detailing how private compa-nies like itself.

1995Cheney leaves the department of defense to

become the CEO of Halliburton Co., one of the biggest oil - services companies in the world. He will be chair man of the company from 1996 to October 1998 and from February to August 2000. Under Cheney leadership Halliburton moves from 73rd to 18th on the pentagon’s list of top contractors. The company garners $2.3 billion in Us government contract, which al-most doubles the $1.2 billion it earned from the government previously. Most of the contracts are grand by the Us Army Corps of Engineers. Halliburton’s overseas operations go from 51% to 68% of its revenue.

Center of integrity, under Cheney’s leader-ship the company also receives $1.5 billion worth of assistance from government –spon-sored agencies such as OPIC overseas Private Investment Proportionand the export – import bank, a huge increase compared to the $100 million that the company had received in fed-eral loans and guarantees in the five years prior to Cheney’s arrival.

Halliburton pleads guilty to the criminal charges of violating a U.S ban on exports to Libya by selling Col.

1996Halliburton subsidiary European marine con-

tractors EMC helps laid the offshore portion of the Yamane natural gas pipeline in Burma. Several human rights organizations allege the tremendous human rights abuses are associ-ated with the project as thousands of villagers in Burma are forced to work and support of the pipeline and related infrastructure. Many lose their homes

due to forced location, and there are reports of

rape torture and killings by soldiers hired by the companies as security guards for the pipeline.

1997Cheney contributes to the creations of an

influential right-wing policy group called the project for the New American Century PNAC.

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation OPIC, a U.S government agency, helps Hallibur-ton by providing political risk insurance” worth up to $200 million from the development of natural gas in Bangladesh.

Dick Cheney went in Iraq and stuck his nose where it didn’t belong. And Cheney was re-ally wrong for putting that gas and oil were it didn’t belong. And then Cheney had asked the Supreme Court can he keep doing it. But the Supreme Court denied him. Cheney left the department of self defense to be-come the C-E-O of Halliburton Co., one of the biggest oil –service companies in the world.

He was going to be the chairman of the company from 1996 to October 1998 and from February to au-gust 2000. My opinion is that because of dick Cheney wrong do-ing a lot of innocent people got hurt and died. Thing that dick Cheney should have got punished for his wrong doing. I think Cheney should have got executed or went to jail for life.

And another opinion I have on dick

Cheney is that he was moving the oil and gas were it didn’t belong and the bad thing about it he was giving it to places like Iraq. While he was selling them gas and oil he was also giving them devices the activate nuclear weapons. So

he was really trading on his on country and put his own people at risk. And by him selling oil and gas to all of those countries’s he really affected the United States. According to Richard Cheney - Dick Cheney’s brother on Dick Cheney’s action’s he said that “The good Lord didn’t see fit to put oil and gas only where there are democratic regimes friendly to the United States”

According to the article on Dick Cheney. Hal-liburton pleads guilty to criminal charges of violating a U.S. ban on exports to Libya by sell-ing Col. Qaddafi six pulse neutron generators, devices that can be used to detonate nuclear weapons. Halliburton pays a $3.8 million pen-alty to settle alleged violations of the U.S. trade ban. And did you know that Cheney contributed to the creation of an influential right-wing policy

group called the Proj-ect for the New Ameri-can Century (PNAC).

Mind Blowing Cheney oversees

Halliburton’s merger with Dresser Indus-tries, one of the com-panies that helped Saddam Hussein re-build Iraq’s oil factory after the First Gulf War, despite economic sanctions against Iraq. Dresser also had faced major liability issues concerning asbestos. Halliburton uses

two foreign subsidiar-ies to do $23 million

worth of business with Iraq. The company is also working on major contracts to build oil in-frastructure in Brazil and Nigeria. For companies like Chevron, Petro bras and Shell. It has a $200 million contract with Chevron and Its partners in the enclave of Cabins (Angola), where the company services over 330 wells in 30 Fields, which provide eight percent of U.S. oil imports; the concession is the source of 80 percent. Of the Angolan government’s revenue.

And did you know Thousands of employ-ees of Halliburton are working alongside U.S. troops in Kuwait and Turkey under a package deal worth close to a billion dollars. KBR is also supporting operations in Afghanistan, Djibouti, Georgia, Jordan and Uzbekistan. The overall an-ticipated cost of task orders awarded since the contract award in December 2001 (LOGCAP) is approximately $830 million.

Conclusion

Cheney Was Moving The Gas And Oil Where It Didn’t Be Long.

Just Imagine $4.60 dollars per gallon for 8 years, That’s a below the belt move. Way to go Mr. Cheney. This guy was the Vice President of the United States at one time, can you believe it?. Wow! Not only do you take our hard earned funds with your tax laws, You try to jump start the oil industry while following a war. I’m sure the reasoning behind all of this make more sense to Halliburton’s Army (oil company) than it do to the American public this summer.

You could argue that, Cheney tried to help the US Economy by developing economically friendly Allies thru the Hasllilburtons trades de-partment, Hallilburton’s Company made global connections and a large amount of profits dur-ing this process. However, do that make it right for Cheney to harm a nation just to gain libation, It makes you wonder some times about the rea-soning behind it all.

The Xclusive President Obama News Conference Blog: July 22nd, 2009 President Obama carries himself with class at all time, even if the public does not see immediate change in the economy. Unemployment has risen to 9.5 percent, and senseless media outlets continue to portal a negative picture of the decision that the Obama's administration has made, yet fell to mention past failures that has the economy where it is today. Patience is a Virtue. Lets's remain patience an wait this thing out. ...

So let me am clear: This isn't about me. I have great health insurance, and so does every Member of Congress. This debate is about the letters I read when I sit in the Oval Office every day, and the stories I hear at town hall meetings,This debate is not a game for these Americans, and they cannot afford to wait for reform any longer. They are counting on us to get this done. They are looking to us for leadership. And we must not let them down. We will pass reform that lowers cost, promotes choice, and provides coverage that every American can count on. And we will do it this year.

Researcher JERMAINE MASSEY

The New York Post, What a Joke?Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States on Jan. 20, 2009. The son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas, he is the first African-American to ascend to the highest office in the land.

He is also the first new president since terrorists attacked New York and Washington on Sept. 11, 2001, the first to use the Internet to decisive political advantage, the first to insist on handling a personal Smartphone while in the White House. So striking was the unlikeliest of his candidacy that he embraced that aspect, calling himself “a skinny kid with a funny name” and making “change” the theme for his campaign.

It was a theme with deep resonance for a country enmeshed in what was widely believed to be the worst downturn since the Great Depression. Abroad, many challenges loomed: the war in Iraq, the worsening conflict in Afghanistan, the repercussions from Israel’s broad assault on Gaza, the threat of terrorism and the increasing signs that the economic woes that began on Wall Street had spread across the global economy.

Mr. Obama arrived at the White House with a resume that appeared short by presidential standards: eight years in the Illinois State Senate, four years as a senator in Washington. He had managed to wrest the Democratic nomination from a field of far more experienced competitors, most notably Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, whom he outlasted in what became an epic primary battle. And he defeated Senator John McCain, the Republican of Arizona, by an electoral margin of 365 to 173, while outpolling him by more than eight million votes.

During the campaign, Mr. Obama laid out a set of large promises that were solidly within the traditional agenda of the Democratic Party, with plans to offer health insurance to all and reduce carbon emissions at the top of the list. At the same time, he proposed moving toward what was sometimes called a post-partisan landscape, appealing to voters of all stripes to come together. As he took office, voters seemed cautiously optimistic, with high hopes for the Obama presidency mixed with a sense that complicated problems would take years to resolve.

The Obama administration’s early months in office were dominated by a single issue: the economy. In fact, the economy’s seemingly relentless slide in late 2008 began reshaping the Obama team’s plans long before Inauguration Day, as first the candidate and then the president-elect was pulled in to discussions over whether to bail out the financial system, and then into the raging debate over whether and how to keep General Motors and Chrysler from going under.

Mr. Obama’s first major initiative was a gigantic stimulus package to pump money into an economy in something close to free fall. He introduced the outlines of a plan before taking office, and spent much of his first weeks engaged in negotiations with Congress that led to the passage of a $787 billion bill. Republicans derided the bill as unaffordable and wasteful. Not a single Republican in the House voted for the package, and only three Republican Senators did -- just enough for Mr. Obama to avert a filibuster.

On Feb. 26, Mr. Obama unveiled a 10-year budget, including $3.5 trillion for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, that envisioned far-reaching plans to reshape the nation’s economic landscape, by promoting fundamental changes in health care, education and energy policy.

Mr. Obama faced some criticism for having so crowded an agenda when the economic woes of the country were so pressing. On the auto bailout, he chose not to appoint a “car czar,’’ essentially taking on that position himself with the aid of a car industry task force. Mr. Obama took an aggressive line with G.M. and Chrysler, forcing out G.M.’s chairman, Rick Wagoner, rejecting both companies’ recovery plans and setting deadlines, backed up by a bankruptcy threat, for forcing radical changes. The bank bailout plan devised by Treasury Secretary Timothy H. Gather, on the other hand, called for creating a public-private partnership for buying up hundreds of billions in so-called “toxic assets.’’ Mr. Obama and Mr. Geithner also unveiled a $75 billion plan for reducing foreclosures.

Overseas, Mr. Obama quickly reshaped policy on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Iraq, he set a date of August 2010 for a pullout of most troops. He ordered that 21,000 additional troops be sent to Afghanistan, significantly stepping up American military involvement. Pakistan became a new focus of administration attention, as the Taliban continued to seize ever-larger swaths of the country’s western regions.

On his second day in office, Mr. Obama issued executive orders banning torture and closing the secret prisons run by the Central Intelligence Agency. In April, he released memos from the Bush administration Justice Department that authorized brutal treatment of so-called “high value’’ terrorism suspects, a move that led to calls for an independent investigation of detainee policy -- calls that Mr. Obama rebuffed. -New York Post

Everyday we wake and make a big deci-sion… And that decision is what you want to wear for the day. How were feeling, where we are going, what were trying to do, who were trying to impress plays a big part in what we decied, but the biggest fac-tor is who you are. I personally like color, something flashy and orginal. I’m not go-ing to wear all black or something with out glitter or sequence if I have an option. What ever you choose to wear for the day will make a personal statement to everyone

This summer I was lucky enough to be one of the choosen teens from iCamp to go see fashion up close and personal. Glen Duvall a international fashion designer, had a very intimate like setting fashion show at Dusable Musem. Upon arriving to the show, I herd many good things and bad things about Duvall's fashion. I honeslty didn't know what to expect. When things kicked off it didn't even come close to what I imagined. His pieces where amazing. I saw many hot models too!!! As the show went on, I thought of it not as a show but like putting his heart on display. What he designed gave me a glimps into his life and told a few things about him. He didn,t have any dark depressing pieces. Everything was wearable, and not over dramatic, and colorful. The models he chose to wear his art represented him well. Even what he was wearing was amazing. So… WHAT IS FASHION? There is no set answer for that my friends. We can copy our favorite artist style. Or try to wear what our friends wear. However at the end of the day it all that matters is how you felt it represented you. I hate when people say “You don’t have style” or ask “How can you wear that?” What ever I put on in the morning is a reflection of me, a glimps into my life. So don’t let anyone tell you you don’t know what fashion is… cause soon as they see your done with it there going to be biting your swag!

Hello I am Tameka Ross and this is Kaleema Frison and we are introducing the “Youth Fallen Tribute” to you. There are many young men that lost their lives this year over things that don’t really matter. There are young men that killed their own blood brothers. But not on purpose on an accident. Go to www. Bing .com mapping section to search youth fallen to see our tribute Bing .com is a Microsoft online mapping tool. We did this article to help bring more awareness to people. We would

like to let you know how our youths are dieing everyday more than ever. When I sit down and think of things like this I feel very unsafe and I sometimes wish I could bring the people back. I am very disappointed. It makes me feel unsafe and disappointed. It makes me feel unsafe because you really can’t walk down the street without getting shoot or killed. When you go to the store your life is in jeopardy. I feel disappointed because my friend lost his life over something that does not matter. I come to this program (I camp)

everyday to deal with losing my friends.

I created a youth fallen tribute with My BFF Kal-eema Frison for everyone that has lost their life. I also created a online map for them to help spread more awareness.

Being in icamp has heIped me not to think about peo-ple that lost their lives as much because when I’m at icamp I’m around so many great people. People that I thought I wasn’t gone to like are my friends now. I met people from a different side of town and it seems like every time I think of

people who lost their lives I feel sad, then one of my new friends always cheer me up when they come over and make me laugh. The I start to think that my friend who past away is in a better place now.

“YOUTH FALLEN TRIBUTE”

GONE TO SOON

We wrote this article to bring more awareness and to let the world know how our youths are dieing everyday more than the older people. When I sit down and think of things like this I feel very unsafe and I sometimes wish I could bring the people back. - Tameka Ross iCamp 09

There are many young teens that lost their lives this year over things that don’t really matter. There are young men that killed their own blood brothers. But not on purpose, on accident. Will the cycle ever end, or will it just get worse. Only time will tell. To quote a line from one of my favorite movies, Menace II Society Allen & Albert Hughes . Do you care if you live or die? My fellow Youth, if we need to ask that question to our-selves repeatedly then somethings not right. Life is worth living, and senseless disagreements are not worth dieing for. - iCamp Research Team
