todaythe complete Tebrax system is manufactured
& distributed in the UK by CSM PressingsLtd of South Wales, a specialist metal
pressing and fabrication company.
They are a modern, forward thinking andflexible manufacturing group, happy
to take enquiries for either smallscale domestic shelving, larger
individual designs for tradeinstallation, or direct sales tocommercial establishments.
how it all startedDesigned by a Swede, Evar Bergström, Tebrax brackets were first made in London in 1954
and patented internationally. The drawings are taken from the original US application.
From its inception, the system was well received and was featured by theDesign Council in the original Design Index at the Design Centre.
Tested by the UK government’s National Physical Laboratory(see p.10) the Tebrax aluminium shelving bracket systemhas been shown to be very strong and reliable, yet easyto handle and adapt. Although evolving to reflect market
requirements and technology advances, componentsordered today are fully compatible with any Tebrax
system installed years ago.

If in doubt, pleaseseek additional
advice.
Wall mounting uprights are sold in nominal multiples of 305mm, lengths can varyslightly due to cutting tolerances. Spacing between uprights can be between 600 and1000mm depending on the loading intended.
Mark the top fixing hole of the left hand upright. From this mark use a spirit level tomark the top fixing hole of the next upright at the desired spacing.
INSTALLATION
Next, drill and plug the wall, and insert the top screws in each upright, leaving slightlyslack. Line up the first upright in true vertical position, and insert the bottom screw.Follow the same procedure for all uprights, ensuring they are parallel. Tighten thescrews before marking out the positions of any intermediate fixings that are required.Additional screws will be needed for heavy loadings. When using panel supportuprights, use the panel to align the uprights and ensure squareness of the installation.
Use No.8 countersunk screws. The shelves should be fixed in position tight up to theuprights, or rebated around them to press against the wall.
For wooden shelves on type W brackets use two fixing screws (No.6 round-headed),one at the front and one at the rear. Use all four fixing holes where two shelves meeton a bracket. Glass shelves must be cut accurately to fit type G, SG or FG brackets.
1) Brackets can be fitted directly into the support upright. Turned sideways, thehead of the bracket should be inserted into the upright.
2) Tilting the front of the bracket up, then twisting back into the upright position, therear of the bracket should now locate in the required slot.
3) Finally press down gently to lock into position. All brackets are secured firmlywhen shelves are fitted.

FURTHER INFORMATION FOR PLANNING YOUR SHELVING INSTALLATION:
STRENGTH TESTS
SHELVING MATERIALS
by the Government’s National Physical Laboratory, indicated that standard 25mm widebrackets will carry up to 90kg, and slim ones 15mm wide will carry up to 22kg, distributed weight per pair of brackets, including a margin for shock loading (load dropped onto shelf). The purchasor is advised to assess their own shockloading requirements, and undertake their own tests if necessary.
should be resistant to sagging as well as able to hold intended loads without breaking.Weaker shelves or heavier loadings will need more uprights and/or brackets, and the economics of stronger shelvingversus more brackets/uprights will need to be taken into account when designing for a safe loading capacity.Optimise your shelving costs to your advantage by testing your shelving materials before specifying your bracketrequirements.
