Luke 9:28-36

About eight days after he saidthis, he took Peter, John, and

James and went up themountains to pray.

While he was praying his face

changed in appearance and hisclothing became dazzling white.

And behold, two men were

conversing with him, Moses andElijah, who appeared in glory andspoke of his exodus that he was

going to accomplish in Jerusalem.Peter and his companions had beenovercome by sleep, but by becoming

fully awake, they saw his glory andthe two men standing with him.

As they were about to part from him,

Peter said to Jesus, Master it is goodthat we are here; let us make threetents, one for you, one for Moses,

and one for Elijah.

But he did not know what he wassaying. While he was still speaking, acloud came and cast a shadow over

them, and they became frightenedwhen they entered the cloud.

Then from the cloud came a voicethat said, This is my chosen Son,

Listen to him.

After the voice had spoken, Jesuswas found alone. They fell silent and

did not at that time tell anyone whatthey had seen.

The Mountain Experience

This is how we describe the feelingafter having encountered and feltGods presence.

We feel light, our hearts overflowswith joy, and even moved to tearsafter realizing how much God love us

and blesses us.

The experience recharges us,strengthen us and inspire us tocontinue.

But sometimes when cloudsovershadow us, like financialproblems in the family, or when weget sick, we get into trouble, it iswhen we become afraid and anxiouslike the disciples.

During these times, God wants us tolisten.

He tells us to be silent amidst the

shadows of our lives so that we canhear his voice.

When we truly listen, it is when we

hear Gods voice and his voicebecomes our assurance that he willbe with us forever.

When we encounter God, the old selfdies. And a new self is born.

The disciple is never the same

there is renewal of mind, heart andsoul.

Renewal can only be sustained when

in constant communion with God that is PRAYER.
