THE FILM TITLE• The film title on this poster is again in the

conventional place, at the bottom above the billing block and the date.

• in terms of what the film will actually be about the title plays a huge role in giving hints to the audience.• We can immediately tell that intellect is

going to be needed for survival in this film as there is a maze to overcome

• We can tell our characters will be running from something or someone

• We can see that our characters are trapped in this ‘maze’ and need to escape.

• The title suggests that the characters are going to have to get out of there quickly to save themselves.

THE MAIN IMAGE• For the main image we see the main character predominantly in the foreground. There are then a number of other characters in the background, but we cannot make them out as clearly as the main character. • Behind the main characters we can see the maze which is mentioned in the title. The maze in this photograph seems to be almost never ending, which suggests to the audience this is not going to be a simple escape for the characters.•The colours used on the poster give a negative atmosphere as there are mainly grey colours used creating the sense of a war.

THE MAIN IMAGE CONTINUED…•The light behind the maze suggests that there may be a ‘light’ at the end of the maze which may help the characters.• The vines on and around the maze suggest that there is a mystery to it which has yet to be solved., and the mystery has continued to develop over time.

REPRESENTATION OF AUDIENCE• We identify the members of the audience which have been targeted usually through the actors.• It is difficult to see what members of the audience have been targeted through the poster, this is because the photo of the actors has been taken from further afield. • Looking at the main characters however, we can see that maybe a person aged between 18-24 has been targeted.• The main character seems to be leading the others to safety, the fact that he is taking them away from the maze in the poster suggests that he is almost their ‘light’ at the end of the maze and is taking them away from danger, he is leading them to their safety, he is their ‘saviour’ almost.

INTERTITLES• There is only one intertitle used on this poster, that is ‘based on the best selling novel’• This was probably used to attract audience members who were already fans of the book to the film. So they already have firm fan base for the film• People who are already fans of the book are more likely to go and see the film if they have been a fan of the books before hand.

OTHER INFORMATION GIVEN• Other information we gain from the poster is firstly the date the film will be released and in cinemas. • We also see a billing block which gives information on the people who helped make and produce the film. • There is also a line which states ‘Get ready to run.’ This gives the audience something to talk about via media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

UNIQUE SELLING POINT• The main unique selling point in this film is the idea of the maze and escaping it. This is a unique idea as there hasn’t been a film about escaping a maze before. • The strong male lead however, isn’t very unique as a number of films have created a strong male lead. • However, it does show a lead who is trying to help others escape the maze with other people, there haven’t been many characters who have helped others to escape the maze
